The reception staff were friendly and helpful. It would have been nice if the restaurant staff were as attentive. In general, a pleasant hotel.

I really enjoyed the stay over the weekend in this hotel. It is easy to reach as it is very close to the train station and the city centre is also quite close. The rooms are what to expect from a Radisson Blu: very good. The breakfast buffet was outstanding including freshly made waffles, any kind of eggs and typical Austrian pastry. Unfortunately I did not have time to check out the gym. I checked the bar instead :-) and that was also a great experience due to the cosy atmosphere and the professional staff.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Conference Centre in February on our journey from London to the skiresort as our flight did not land in Salzburg until 10pm. We took a taxi from the airport which took around 15 mins and cost a very reasonable 15 Euro.
We had booked our rooms some months before through an online agent and got a great rate. The check-in process was easy and the staff polite.
As we were travelling with 2Adults/2 teens we had requested interconnecting rooms with a double bed in one room and 2 singles in the other and that's exactly what we got. The rooms were spacious with a decent bathroom and seemed clean.
The only complaint I would have is the heating could not be turned down to our desired temperature and the curtains smelled of old smoke even though the rooms were non-smoking but it was not bad enough to request a change of room.Despite these little problems we had a good nights sleep. The hotel is literally round the corner from the railway/bus station and despite the freezing cold (-16 degree) we had an easy 4 min walk to catch our train to the resort the next morning.
All in all I would happily stay here again on a journey through Salzburg if I had to take the train, but not for sightseeing.

The hotel is located in a suburb of the main City of Salzburg which is easily accessed by a number 2 bus from the Airport and costs 2.50 euros. (Dont take a taxi which cost 20 euros!)

The hotel is near the main train station but surrounded by kebab shops, sports bars and take away shops. Its not a pretty area, but does seem safe at night. It was too far for me to walk into the old town but busses 1.3.and 5 are frequent from the train station and cost just a few euros or are free if you have a Salzburg card.

Checking in and out of the hotel was quick and easy and reception staff were friendly. On the ground floor is just a reception area and a bar/restaurant. We missed a comfortable lounge area to relax in after a day sightseeing and the restaurant was very expensive.

The room was fine, but overlooked the roof of the conference centre and there was only one electric socket.

Unfortunately poor housekeeping let the hotel down. The ironing board in the room was missing, but was deleivered when requested. There was no milk on the breakfast tray and we were told that a small jug of milk would be 10 euros......but on the first morning we were given a free jug of milk. The following day the housekeepers had forgotten to leave cups, the ice bucket was not emptied and cleaned and the kettle left in the middle of the dressing table.

We bought our own breakfast from the local supermarket which was considerably cheaper than the 17 euros charged for breakfast in the hotel.

We stayed for four days and during that time the bed linen was not changed or the room cleaned, although towels were changed and bathroom wiped down.

When there was a conference it was very busy and individual guests did get slightly forgotten about.

On the whole it was not a bad hotel, but not what we were expecting. There are two Radisson Blu hotels in Salzburg, the conference centre and another hotel in the City Centre which can be confusing when booking.

If you want to eat locally there is an Italian resturant in the empty shopping centre opposite the hotel. The atmosphere is not very good, service slow and surly but the food is very good indeed. But watch out for the wine prices. A bottle of house wine (Pino Grigio) was 35 euros!

A better restaurant is in the Der Salzburger Hof hotel - Restzum 3 Genuss (Out of the hotel take the second right turn down the side of the sports bar and the restaurant is on the right at the traffic lights) They have an Indian, Austrian and Italian kitchen. Two courses plus wine costs about 50 euros. Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and good food.

If we return to Salzburg we will definately book a City centre hotel next time.

Room Tip: Third floor is the smoking floor.
