Located at a very quiet intersection, this hotel is not exactly near to anything except the train station. This hotel is quite far away from the Old Town and the walk there isn't exactly as scenic as mentioned by other reviews - at least not after 2 days. If you plan on returning to the hotel in the afternoon to rest and then head out again, it is not very convenient.
When I checked in, the guy at the reception was less than warm. The second day when I got the Salzburg card and asked for the accompanying booklet in English, he said he didn't have one and gave me one in German, saying that it's the same. Errm, it's not!
The room itself is basic and without carpeting, although I must say that the bed is very comfortable for me. It has a radiator heater which you must turn on yourself. I didn't realise that until the morning after.
The breakfast was the only saving grace. It was a good spread and the dining area was cosy, with coffee served at the table and a low roof.
Salzburg itself is a nightmare to visit during this season. It is overcrowded and the cobbled streets and Christmas markets somewhat loses its charm.More
