Hotel Hofwirt Salzburg

We recently stayed in a triple room at Hotel Hofwirt for 5 nights while visiting friends and exploring the beautiful city of Salzburg. Our room, while not spacious, was neatly furnished and with two windows had lovely light and a good view down the Linzergasse. Both room and bathroom were clean. We found reception, housekeeping and breakfast staff to be friendly and helpful, similarly I could easily and confidently book direct with the hotel because staff promptly answered emails. The breakfast buffet was the best for our whole trip, plentiful and with a good selection, we especially enjoyed the beautiful breads. Hotel Hofwirt is well located with the Aldstadt an easy and pleasant walk and the intercity train station is close by. You can quickly be on a lovely forested walk by turning left from Linzergasse up toward the Kapuzinerkloster (monastery) and beyond to the Franziski Schlossl and the outer boundary of the city wall. We would happily stay at Hotel Hofwirt again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 322

Stayed at Hofwirt in Oct 2013. Thought I had posted this review and just found it so did write it at time, just not here. This is Average comfort accommodation. Very basic room with basic amenities. However, things may have changed, I hope so. VERY Clean so that's a big plus.
Other on the plus side: Location – great! - Walking distance to many boutiques, restaurants, grocery store, ATM, bus and internet café. Only 10 min walk to old town which is delightful. Reception very helpful and friendly during the DAY. Breakfast was excellent with service friendly staff. NEGATIVES: Room too hot in warm weather. (only a ceiling fan if I remember correctly) I was dying in there. So not good during hot weather. No fridge in room. No tea/coffee making facilities. Night shift reception not so good. No instruction in room re phone or anything else. Very old small TV without instructions very high up on top of wardrobe. Could hardly see it if you wanted to view it. Way too high – crazy Didn't even know it was in room until I enquired about a TV! No tea/coffee making facilities in room. No hairdryer. Had to go down and ask reception to borrow one (they have one!). No disposal bags for womens sanitary items – this I found unbelievable in a hotel! Needed late at night and night reception guy could not supply and could only insincerely apologise (seemed more annoyed at my complaint there wasn’t one)
One computer for guests use – and the internet did not work for me in the hotel (too many probs) had to go to local internet café which is about 500 metres away from the hotel to the left on the same side as hotel, so that was good. No space for toiletries in bathroom, had to put on floor. Overall considering I paid Euro255 for 3 nights accommodation, I will rate this hotel 3 out of 5. I would not stay here again as the negatives outweigh the positives.

Room Tip: Near stairs as lift is always busy so you can choose to walk downstairs if you are fit enough that i...

We stayed 2 nights at Hofwirt Salzburg and just looking for somewhere to rest after exploring the city. However, Hofwirt exceeded our expectations. As soon as we arrived, reception were extremely helpful with maps and lots of advice on where to visit in the Old Town. A short walk to here, with supermarkets, cafes and restaurants near by! Rooms were clean and we loved the breakfast, would definitely stay there again!

This hotel is perfectly located in the center of Salzburg, we walked to almost all the important sightseeings like Mozart's house and birthplace, Mirabel Castle, etc. so it was nice. The lady at the reception was kind to explained us a few stuffs.

The breakfast was really great, as expected for a 3-Stars hotel, but it could be better.

The only things I didn't like about this hotel were the room didn't have enough space for the luggage and jackets, it was really basic compared to other cheaper hotels. As for the bathroom, the bottom seal of the shower needs to be replaced because all the time the water kept leaking to the floor.

Also the breakfast was nice. Other than that I was not so pleased with this place. It started with the desk clerk acting like our desire to check in was an interruption of her work on the computer. Probably this was work she did not want to lose, but I wonder what kind of management has desk clerks responsible for this sort of thing ahead of greeting customers. The room as clean. The bathroom ridiculously tiny. My closet is bigger, and my closet is not that big. This is not a place for anyone who plans to watch any television as it looked like one you would have in your kitchen, up high and very small. I don't watch TV so it was no problem. The desk table was plastic, the chairs were hard, orange and wooden. I must not have looked at the pictures well enough. Or maybe there are other rooms that are better than what we stayed in. It was not what I expected. The street outside was noisy and the insulation did not mask it at all. I did like the view out the window and the parking was convenient.

Room Tip: Don't.

Small and cosy hotel. It is located on the other bank of the river from the old city, but it is about 15 minutes walk along pedestrian street and across the bridge. Lots of shops and restaurants near by.
There are some places of interests just near the hotel - St Sebastian's Cemetery and the entrance to the Kapuzinerberg. It is very good location to stay - close to the historical part of the city, but very quiet.

Free WiFi, excellent breakfasts.
