Place to get stunning views of all of Salzburg. We rode it up just before sunset and was able to capture the changing light over the city and fortress.
We tried looking up directions but couldn't seem to find the entrance, until we realized the entrance is inside the museum of modern art. You pay for the lift up, and I'd recommend paying to take it down as well. We were told we could order a drink up top and get a free lift down, or walk. However when we got up top the bar/restaurant was fancy we felt too out of place to order just a drink, we ended up walking down ourselves. The views are gorgeous from the terrace, very much worth the trip up. Walking down was a tad difficult as there's a path, but if you just continue on it, you do a really long loop. You need to take the side streets down so we kind of had to find our way, but got some other cool photos on the way down and the overall path doesn't take you too far down the river so it wasn't a bad walk back to the hotel.
This is a good getaway to go to during lunch. Take the lift and have lunch. Then enjoy the walk along the fortress walls.
Take the lift up to the Modern Art museum for great views. You can walk all the way along to the fortress. A good break from the crowds of visitors.
Definitely worth seeing the views.
If you have the Salzburg Card, this is included in it and you pay nothing extra. Also go and see the Museum der Moderne when you are up there.
