This is a charming place with a great location on the bus line into the center of Salzburg. Very well run with a fabulous breakfast and very nice rooms.

If you are looking for a nice hotel that is just outside the City Centre then look no further than Hotel Hoelle. The staff are very friendly and the hotel facilities are extremely good.

Our family (2 adults & 2 children) had one of the family rooms and it was more than big enough for our needs. I also had an opportunity of looking at another room, which appeared to have been prepared for just two people, and it looked as big as the room we were staying in!

From the other reviews you will read that some of the rooms face a cemetery and on the other side of the hotel they face quite a busy main road. Our room faced the road and with the window open it was quite noisy, morning and night, but thankfully all the rooms have air conditioning so this did not prove a problem but if I get the opportunity to stay at the Hotel again I would definitely ask for a room on the cemetery side!

Breakfast was a real treat and even the most fickle of people will be hard pushed not to find anything to eat (they even have cakes to eat for breakfast) but the real treat was the restaurant. I would definitely recommend that you have your evening meals their rather than eating in the City Centre.

The only negative things I could say about the hotel are extremely minor, our TV did not have all the channels it was supposed too and the bath/shower floor felt quite slippery when you were having a shower. These are very minor points which I only mention to provide a semblance of balance to this review.

To get into Salzburg itself is very easy, the bus stop is a few minutes walk away and the No.5 bus will get you straight there in about 10 minutes. The service is very frequent, the longest we had to wait for a bus was 15 mins, and that was at 11.00 o'clock in the evening.

To make full use of your visit to Salzburg make sure that you purchase the Salzburg Card which is available from the reception.

This is one of the best hotels we have we have stayed in and I have no hesitation in recommending it.

If you do end up staying at this hotel I hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we did.

  • Liked — The overall quality ofn the hotel
  • Disliked — Slippery bath/shower floor! You did ask and that was the only thing I could think off.

stayed in this hotel for new years eve 2006. couldn't find any accommodation for that night and we were arriving in salzburg late on new years eve so we just got a taxi direct to this hotel from the airport. the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was nice. we got a lift in to the centre off the manager of the hotel to the centre (5/10 mins drive). the location isn't ideal but there are plenty of taxis. we even got one home on new years eve which can be hard. i didn't notice the cemetary at all. the area was really nice. we only stayed one night in the austria classic and then moved to the Youth & Familyguesthouse hostel. this is in a great location but no way as nice as the hotel but worth it for the good location. try get one of the family rooms in the newly renovated part. they have their own bathroom and are much nicer than the other rooms.

I have stayed in Salzburg three times over the years, and the Austria Classic hotel was by far the best. Only about a 25 minute walk from downtown through a nice garden district, the hotel is conveniently located to Salzburg. If walking is not your thing, a bus stops a few steps from the hotel for the short ride downtown. The rooms were very nicely appointed and clean - the hotel was also very quiet.
The staff were very helpful, making an extra effort to help me with getting my laptop connected to the internet.
The breakfast was great - a good selection of both hot and cold dishes, including sausage and eggs as well as cheeses, meats and breads. They even had a nice selection of cakes! Parking was also very secure with their own parking lot, a clear advantage for those with a rental car. Staying in a hotel directly downtown has the disadvantage of no parking.
I would highly recommend this hotel to all types of travelers - you will not be dissapointed.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. I am sure that all the reviews, reports and descriptions I read on this hotel, none of them mentioned that this hotel is located right oposite a cemetary! Now, it may not be a big deal at all for some people (like my husband), but for the rest of us a hotel right next to the cementary might not be the first choice! Especially for a honeymoon!!! Anyway, had I known of the location of this hotel I would not have chosen it!

The room we stayed in was quite small, one of the smallest ones I've stayed in, actually. Nevertheless, it was clean, well-appointed and faced the road (rather than the cemetary!). The hotel has a great restaurant, and the breakfast was wonderfull. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk to town, or you can catch a bus that stops right outiside the hotel. The staff was polite and friendly and always helpfull.

I'd definitely would go back to Salzburg, and as nice as this hotel is (for those of you who don't mind the doom and gloom of cemetaries), I'd stay in one of the hotels closer to the centre of town.
