“Charming Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

Our visit to the Hotel Sacher was mid July of 2014. The hotel is located in the heart of Salzburg on the Salzach river and you are within walking distance of just about everything you would want to see and visit in the town. The hotel itself is very well appointed and first class. The service is outstanding and the staff from the front desk to the cleaning ladies are very polite and more than willing to make sure you enjoy your stay. The rooms are big, well decorated and the beds extremely very comfortable.
We ate lunch in their casual restaurant,Salzachgrill, and the food is very good. The fried chicken, which is a very popular dish in Salzburg, was outstanding. You will want to visit Café Sacher as well. It is a coffee shop but the deserts are out of this world.
I would whole heartedly recommend the Hotel Sacher for your stay in Salzburg.

Great Location close to tons of cafes & shopping. Hotel staff is superb helpful & handy for recommendations. Breakfast is available in a couple different rooms & offers a lot to choose from. Fyi you can reserve a table in the bar for a drink before you venture out for dinner. Kids can sit at the bar until 10pm. We stayed in 403,404,&304 I recommend 304 because it has a balcony which is important to us. The only downside was the loud street noise at 2-5 am in the morning we heard police arresting people sirens etc.... Gym is decent not a lot of equipment but no one was there so I had it to myself!

We were not intending to stay in Bristol however our usual hotel were fully booked for the week we planned. We stayed 2 nights. We were lucky because our room was facing the inner garden and it was very quite.
Breakfast was open buffet with good choices and the staff were happy and friendly.

Hotel is located very central and the restaurant has very good reputation.

...even without the torte. The Sacher is a grand hotel inthe old style, down to a young woman at the front, dressed in a Johnny of Phillip Morris era getup, who just stood around, smiled sweetly and, I suppose, waited for telegram to deliver to a guest in the lounge

My familly and I stood at the Hotel Sacher Salzsburg, it was a very nice hotel with a very good restaurant, very well located, rooms are charming, the bath is a little small, but the over all experience was very good

Room Tip: ask for a river room, the view is fantastic

I am really disappointed by the stay at this hotel. On the arrival, I was not not given an upgrade although I was supposed to. They made an upgrade only when I saw the room and I asked why they did not upgrade. The hotel service staff are very unfriendly and unwelcoming especially the porters and the reception staff. It seems like most staff at this hotel hate their jobs. They run around like crazy but the efficiency is zero. They have some young kids working as bell-boys. They take you to the room and then literally run away without showing the room and being able to answer any questions. we were staying for one night, otherwise I would have moved somewhere else. Our room was facing the street and when you are in bed you can see people from across the street staring right at you from their balconies. The rooms are small, and overfurnished by really old furniture which creaks under you. Bathroom is tiny and I wonder how some big opera singer could fit into their bathtubs. Food is ok but nothing special and certainly expensive. Breakfast is mediocre and nobody cares about your needs. They have young kids working as breakfast staff. The hotel may be good for the old-fashioned local clientele. Not recommended for young people, young couples or couples with children. I should say though that I am overall disappointed with the Austrian hotels. They are generally not up to normal Western European standards.

Dear Michael G.!

First of all I would like to thank you very much for staying at Hotel Sacher Salzburg and for your open feedback regarding your recent visit here on TripAdvisor. It was with great pleasure to welcome you at our hotel.

I am really sorry that we did not meet your satisfaction in all aspects during your stay.
Please kindly allow me to express my sincerest apology for any inconvenience you have had experienced.
During the Salzburg Summer Festival there is in Salzburg absolutely peak season and therefore we regret that you did not like the first shown recently newly renovated room as well as the second offered traditional furnished guest room. I will follow up very carefully on all your addressed issues. Especially on your remarks regarding our staff members, because unfriendliness has no place at our hotel and is not our common understanding of highest service quality.
On the other hand it is our effort to give also young people the chance to graduate there training at a five star superior hotel and it puts me into a thoughtful mood that you got the feeling that our staff members do not like there job. I can ensure you that this is not the case. However we will still work on it to improve continuously the standard for our guests.

Dear Reviewer, thank you again for staying with us and for your invested time to tell us about your recent visit.
We kindly ask you to give us another chance to accommodate you again at the Hotel Sacher Salzburg to have here the opportunity to convince you of our highest quality and service as well as to show you that our hotel is also an ideal meeting point for younger people as well as for families.

Your sincerely,

Elfi Kammerhofer

Located on the banks of the Salz River, The Hotel Sacher i a true landmark in Salzburg.
The Classic , elegant atmosphere invites us to enjoy the many marvels that Salzburg has to offer.
The Hotel is immaculate, the rooms are perfect in every sense.
The Staff and the Concierge made us feel at home and we will definitely go back for more.
Of course we enjoyed the Sacher Torte and their Apple Strudel!!
Don't miss it!!

Room Tip: Any room that overlooks the Salz river will do.
