Excellent food although wasn't cheap. The food beautifully prepared excellent service. Portion size sensible for a five course tasting menu. I suspect this may be on the small size for those used to usual tyrollean fare. Excellent wines by the glass. Worth it for a special occasion.

We were in Kitzbuehel for the ski-ing and decided to go for a special meal mid-week and the Neuwirt did not disappoint. We had the Tasting menu (minus the suckling pig for me) and everything was exceptional. For a Michelin starred restaurant they got everything perfect as far as we were concerned. I particularly loved the lamb main course. The dessert was a wonderful selection of 4 different flavours / textures. My only disappointment was not being able to eat my share of the chocolates that arrived with the coffee. A memorable evening.

Our family of six including 4 children had the Christmas Eve set menu. The restaurant gives the unmistakeable impression of having everything just right. Decor, table settings, service was excellent. Even though we were dressed way less formal than local guests (wearing black suites with tie, and evening dresses), the staff was friendly and pleasant. The Austrian Pinot Noir (Malad) at 40 euros was excellent. The 5 course menu was visually appealing, interesting in texture and ingredients. Obviously a great deal of work went into each course. All the components looked labour intensive! Flavours? Interesting, intriquing, tasty, pleasing, filling, a yes to all of that. Delicious, scrumptious? Unfortunately, not. The exception was the dessert course, with 5 elements, which was great. Perhaps they were busier the chef and team could handle, the place was around 3/4 full. I would recommend anyway, subject to budget availability. The set menu was 125 euros p.p.

If you're a bit worried about dining in a Michelin starred reatuarant beacsue it might be a bit stuffy - don't be. The food is great, but the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. Plus you don't have to mortgage the house - the classic wiener schnitzel is less than £20 - on the other hand you can push the boat out for a special occasion.
I won't review the food, beacuse everyone's taste is different, but I doubt you'll be disappointed unless your taste is for well-done cheeseburgers!
Booking in the high season and Friday/Saturday is essential (it's closed Sunday)

We were staying at the Schwarzer Adler, the hotel next door (and actually they are adjoined internally). We wanted to have a simple dinner and stay in - so we went downstairs from our amazing room at the Schwarzer Adler and asked if we could have dinner in the hotel. The hotel provides a meal in the evening for the people who are on full board, but we were not (just breakfast), So they walked us into Neuwirt. We had no idea were going to a fabulous restaurant and we were certainly not dressed for it. - NO worries. We were treated like royalty (despite our attire) and had the best Tyrolian dinner I have ever had and I have been to Austria many times. The service was great - but not hanging over us. We brought our 12 year old son and what was nice was that there were items on the menu perfect for him as well. Often nice restaurants make families with children feel unwelcome. This was not the case here. They treated all of us - including our son great. Prices are high, but you get what you pay for...
