“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2011

This is a hotel with fabulous views over the mountains and down to Kitzbuhel especially from the swimming pool on the top floor. The room was spacious and really clean with a covered balcony. Great food and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

This is an old school Austrian hotel with wonderful staff and rooms and is an all roubnd first class place. Set a a mile or so out of town it is close to great walks and the nearby lake. Food is excellent although not kind on the waistline! A special thank to Hans who was really great.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Schloss Lebenberg. The staff were friendly, genuine and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was first class and well worth the money.

This hotel is also marketed as a venue for business events. This meant that in July 2011 the complete hotel (parking, entrance, kids play and gaming rooms ... there were even bikes in the pool area) was taken up by a company holding presentations for dealers.

As 'regular' travelers we hence felt like staying in a bike shop instead of a 5-star resort.
On top of that the wellness area was crowded in the late afternoon with people that didn't respect the proper 'ettiquette' and also at night there was some additional noise. Because of this we asked to change rooms to a quiter wing (note: the reaction of the night receptionist when I called after midnight to complain about the noise was that "when there are large groups, you have to accept some additional noise" - fortunatly the manager thought different the following day).

This being said: the management and staff did (with the above exception) their utmost best to keep us happy, and the food is excellent! I think it is a great hotel outside of these events, so call ahead to inform what's going on!

We have been travelling to this place since 30 years and have celebrated weddings, christenings, golden anniversaries and much more at the Lebenberg. Through all that time there was always a great consistency in service and hotel quality.
Here is how you can get what you want and much more:
Before booking: Do your research: They match and offer all travel packages like the “wellness package” for 3 nights for E100 person/room in a double room including half board; The 7 for 6 nights and so on. The large rooms are all brand new and very comfortable. The Panorama rooms have a breathtaking view of the mountains.
Book with the hotel front desk directly, you can negotiate all prices (excluding the holiday season). All of the hotel offered packages include a welcome cocktail the unlimited use of the facilities and a phenomenal breakfast buffet (more like a brunch) plus a four course dinner. For the dinner, you can change the courses: Ask to change your appetizer into mozzarella with tomato, or prosciutto melon if you like. For the entrée, in case you have kids, just ask for the Wienerschnitzel with French fries or the Spaghetti Bolognese; Or a Kaiserschmarn, a traditional ripped pancake with powdered sugar, absolutely to die for!!! There are many hotels in Kitz but there is none with a better location and value.
If you need anything for your room ask for Rosemary the house service supervisor. You will love Kitzbuehel, with its breathtaking mountain panoramas and historic downtown with a NY shopping experience including the outlets of the big designer stores,
Check out: Eder, Frauenschuh, Ieri & Oggi for designers like Prada, tods and so on.

Room Tip: Book and negotiate with the front desk!

The hotel is located on a hill some 10 min. outside Kitzbühel. The facilities are as you'd expect: spacious room (many without a view), perfectly clean and well equipped. The details were very disappointing:
The dining room is very big, accomodating probably more than 150 people. Then, it's right next to the bar without a proper wall between them, so you "enjoy" the bar piano for your dinner. Of course, it's a matter of taste whether you like this or not, but at least it's a bit strange. Food was ok, but again, this is a 5-star and you'd expect something more than ok. Breakfast was good.
The wellness area has a spectacular view over Kitzbühel and the mountains. This really is beautiful.
What really disturbed me was the lack of service quality. On arrival as well as on departure there was no-one to help bringing the luggage in and out of the car. The shuttle bus starts at 9:00h. It takes 10 minutes and then leaves you in the city centre instead of at the gondola. This means a not so short walk with skiing equipment, while the temperature down there was over 10 degrees (which of course is nice, in general). You simply miss out nearly one hour of the best early morning skiing (gondola starts at 8:30h). So, if skiing is your main interest in Kitzbühel and you want to start early to make the most of the better conditions in the morning - go somewhere else or plan for taxi trips to the gondola (which is what we did; approx. 8€ one-way).

We are here 5 days into our 8 day stay. What a wonderful hotel! We have been very lucky with the room view and weather, but frankly this is one of the best hotels we have ever been to. There are plenty of monied people here who would apparently not appreciate the nose on the end of their face, but ignore them and come here anyway! The staff and local people are fantastic.
The service at breakfast and dinner is 7 star. Beautiful table settings, impeccable glassware and silverware, spectacular 5 course fine dining menus every night including gourmet fish and vegetarian options served with aplomb. This is clever stuff.
We have had the privilege of staying everywhere - pretty much - but seldom so well looked
after.
Our room is standard double but beautifully fitted and featured with all modern comforts. Although we're fairly fussy (it might be said ) there's not a thing we would change. The view is jaw-dropping which is an added bonus but we would have been perfectly contented without.
Our son is in love, as we are, with the 7th floor pool with its panoramic views over the town.
This hotel is in a different league. What a privilege to stay here in Feb 2011. It is not cold and modern as some photos suggest, but warm and beautifully appointed.

Please fellow travelers, treat the staff with the respect they deserve for running this silver service.
