“A superb hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

I have been staying at the Bruggerhof as I am involved with the british triathlon team. A really well positioned hotel, four minutes walk from the lake (swarzersee) black lake. Swimming here costs four euros, but on the far side of the lake, it's free to get in. The hotel staff are really friendly, and really appreciate the odd word of german. Camping is next to hotel, and a swimming pool, sauna complex, which is second to none!! We were able to keep our room on the day of departure until 5 pm at no extra cost. How good is that. Would certainly come back. Only one thing missing was a kettle / tea making in room. Apparently it's an Austrian tradition, that they like you to have coffee all together, so nothing supplied.

Room Tip: We didn't get a top class room by choice, but have to say it was ok. Just take a travel kettle wi...

Myself and a friend stayed here for 5 days in March to enjoy some skiing in Kitzbuhel. My first impression was lukewarm -the hotel was a bit outside of the town (not a big deal, since they have a shuttle to/from the slopes -but it precludes from strolling to bars or restaurants in the evenings), the reception was courteous but I wouldn't go so far as to call it warm and friendly, and the room was serviceable. A nuisance was that we were expecting 2 single beds, but what we got were two single mattresses sitting right against each other on a double frame. Added to that: I had an allergic reaction to the pillow on the first night, and when I told the receptionist (through puffed up eyelids) and asked for a different pillow to be delivered, I later returned to the room to find a second pillow, exactly the same as the first, on top of the one that caused me problems. Rather than trying to pursue it further, I just used a rolled up towel as a pillow for the remainder of our stay. It is also worth noting that there is no wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby.
The spa, obviously quite a recent addition / renovation, was lovely. It had a nice pool and various saunas, baths, showers, relaxation spaces, etc. I would have really liked to have a hot tub after some tiring days on the slopes, but this was the one key thing it lacked.
The food was quite nice -and one of the wait staff did seem more friendly than most of the other employees. I just wish she had been there every day! I was also a bit annoyed to be charged for a cup of tea to take to wait for the shuttle bus immediately after breakfast, when the tea with breakfast was included.
My overall impression is that the staff there just weren't really too bothered about making our stay really enjoyable. This may have been due to the fact that it was low season, and there seemed to only be about 6 sets of guests -but really: that should allow them to be more attentive, not less.

Stayed here feb 2014 for a weeks of snowboarding. Ski bus pulls into the hotel car park (5mins to lifts).

Hotel itself was nice; mostly Germans and Austrians (no Brits which made a change). Very clean and staff were all very helpful.

Room was basic but a good size. Everything worked and kept well. No WiFi or internet in room. Was a shame but remember this is a small family run hotel (bring a book).

Food was very good. I allways went into the restaurant late evening and was quite. Service friendly and fast

This is a quite hotel and a bit out of town (nothing really in walking distance); suited me but might not be for everyone.

The spa and swimming pool make this hotel. It really is first class. The hotel is a three star but the spa easily make it four

Room Tip: Ask for the front of hotel

The rooms were basic and the smoking in the bar was unpleasant but aside from that I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were all very helpful and spoke great English.
Clause was the bus driver who took us to the gondola each morning and brought us back in the afternoon. He is a lovely and friendly man who really cares that you have a good holiday.
Thank you to all at the Hotel Bruggerhof!

This is a lovely traditional family-run hotel with stunning views all around. We stayed 2 weeks in August 2013 and really enjoyed our stay. We had a family room on the top floor that was a good size with two shuttered windows and a lovely clean bathroom with two sinks. We had half board and enjoyed most dinners. It took us a while to realise we could ask for something different when our son didn't like the 'grown up Austrian dish' so we asked for chips and you could even ask for pizza, or even ice-cream instead of the other deserts offered on the menu.

The downside was that the campsite is right next to the hotel and during our stay someone had decided to carry out some lumberjack work from 7.30 am on a few mornings. We felt sorry for the campers as they had decided to fell several beautiful firs right next to their caravans early in the morning and carried on chain sawing for several hours later. Surely they didn't need to do it right in the busy summer season! Our room was also near the kitchen (almost above it) so we were woken by the preparation of breakfast on several mornings.

On the good side, we thoroughly enjoyed using the indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi pools, but didn't make it to the sauna area, which looked inviting. The food was very nice, with some dodgy items served (that we weren't used to) such as aspic, but were perfectly fine if you like that sort of dish. The staff who served us were always polite, friendly and accommodating and you could eat as much as you liked for breakfast (lovely fresh bread). As we had a car we felt the location was lovely, off the beaten track and right next to the Schwarz See where you could swim in the dark 'healthy' water. We were able to travel around a lot and made use of the various cable cars in the area and thought Kitzbuehel was really quaint with it's coloured buildings and traditional Tyrolean style houses.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room on the top floor faced the Wellness Centre so we could hear the breakfast being prepared ea...
