“Good value, great food (very helpful with a gluten free diet)”
Reviewed 18 January 2009

Pro's:-
Excellent food (Austrian Cuisine)
Outstandingly helpful with adapting meals for one member of the party with a wheat intolerance, including producing great gluten free bread by breakfast of the first morning. One of the most helpful hotels we have ever visited in this regard.
Friendly staff
Good pool & fitness centre
Reasonable value for money
Comfortable, warm, room.
Comfortable bed (Austrian twin)
Reasonably quiet out of town location (in the winter - possibly noisier in the summer with a camping site next door)
Regular ski bus to Fleckalmbahn Gondola from right outside the hotel
Free hotel transport to/from Kitzbuhel (5 minutes drive) available for limited hours (08.30 -09.30 and 16.00 to 17.00). Drops off & picks up 3 minutes walk from the Hahnenkamm Gondola.
Easy taxi service from Kitzbuhel at circa 9 euros per trip.
Close (5 minutes walk) to the Schwarzsee lake, ice skating available when frozen or swimming in the summer.

Cons:-
Quiet out of town location, it is about a 40 minute stroll or a taxi ride to/from the Kitzbuhel apre ski scene - (pleasant as a stroll but not great for apres)
Pool was swimmable in January but too cool to want to be inactive.
Limited free hotel transport times
Ski room adequate but pokey, a little cool & no boot warmers/driers (we rented a ski locker at the base of the Hahnenkamm Gondola in preference - €40 for 6 days for 2 people - much easier walking etc without the boots & ski's in tow everywhere we went)

We had a family holiday for a week at the Bruggerhof and had an excellent time. The best feature by far was the superb brand new indoor pool and spar - big swimming pool including whirlpool, sauna rooms and a spar treatment centre; free to guests! After a day's walking and biking it was a delightful to return to the hotel to relax.
The hotel itself is small and intimate in a chalet-style. All the rooms were modern and clean, and our double had a balcony overlooking the hills. It is situated just down from Lake Shwartzee which we enjoyed as it was out of town and gave easy access to lovely walks around the lake and through the woods. The hotel also provided free bikes and a courtesy lift into town twice a day.
Staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome.
Food was good if a bit un-exciting. They alternated between a buffet evening meal and choice from the menu.
And lastly ... there was a mini golf course in the grounds. Great for children in the evenings (and some adults!) Great fun.

When my 3 friends and I arrived at the hotel all seemed well with the Reiter family run hotel, but this quickly changed. We were not told at booking but our 1 weeks stay was going to be in an outbuilding across the car park from the main hotel which had one bathroom to serve 4 adults and was extremely cold. The food on the first night was fine and then we felt that the meals were being thrown together from left overs, becoming very tasteless and repetitive. The staff could barely raise a smile and it felt as though we were unwanted customers, not paying guests. We also felt the shuttle bus service ran at too restrictive a times and so if you wanted to explore the town you have to pay for a taxi.

All together the worst holiday of our days in terms of customer service, skiing was great though.

I had an awesome time at the Hotel Bruggerhof. It was very close to the gondola and also just a quick drive to go shopping and into the main town. The sights were beatuiful and i had a great time. Also the people were very friendly and I ate alot of their wonderful German food.

  • Liked — It was fun.
  • Disliked — The language.

We had a loveley time-the room was big, clean and accommodating. The meals were great .The staff and local residents were friendly and helpful.Location was a good fit for us, as we had a rental car and could park right next to the major gondola without having to carry skis, equipment etc..all through town and up hills. I would reccomend it to anyone-including families...

My wife and I enjoyed a great week with our inlaws skiing in Kitzbuhel and the holiday was made all the more enjoyable for our stay in the Bruggerhof hotel. The owners were welcoming and sociable and the hotel itself is delightful though the food was a little repetitive. The hotel provides a shuttle service to and from the centre of town which was a great service.
We would definately stay here again and hope to do so at some time. Highly recommended.

  • Liked — lovely atmosphere, great service
  • Disliked — a bit too far from the centre of town
  • Tips/Secrets — ski the Penglestein instead of the Hannenkahm

My husband and I stayed here for a week in July this year, we wont be going back.

Although the hotel itself is lovely, the food is repetitive and tasteless. It also fronts onto a very busy road which runs into the centre, and the railway which runs several times day and night is very noisy so you can't have your windows open at night when it is very warm unless you wear earplugs.

We chose this hotel as we wanted somewhere quiet away from the centre, we may as well have stayed in the centre as we certainly did not get the peace and quiet we wanted.
The tour operater we booked with did not pass the relitive info on to us and I was very unhappy with the outcome.

I will however visit Austria again but not this resort, beware if you want peace and quiet you wont get it here.
