The Jagerwirt is one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed at. From the moment you walk through the door you are made to feel welcome. Every member of staff speaks to you with a smile, they all speak good English and they have a great sense of humour.
The hotel is very clean and traditionally decorated. The room we stayed in was large with plenty of storage. Free wifi, a larger safety deposit box and a fridge would have been welcome but otherwise no complaints. The bed was large and comfortable and we were able to watch bbc news on the large flat screen Samsung TV. The view of the Hahnenkamm from our balcony was a highlight for us.
The restaurant was well set out with lots of small bays and partitioning meaning that you feel you were dining in a discrete, private dining area. The food was very good. Breakfast had a huge range of continental breakfast options. There were two fresh fruit salads. a selection of yoghurts, honey and prunes. Two or three types of bread, a selection of local cheeses and hams as well as bacon/sausage, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs. There was also 4 cereals, a sweet cake and a selection of fruit juices. The evening meal menu is displayed in the morning and guests are asked to make their choices at breakfast. The food was always of a good standard and there is a full vegetarian option every evening. I have never stayed in a hotel with so many people requiring special diets due to intoleranaces, allergies or simple dislikes. The restaurant staff were always pleased to talk about options and every evening there would be one-off special meals prepared for people who couldn't eat the options available. You really couldn't ask for more or a better service. The hotel has a beautiful garden just off the main bar area and there is also a great pool and spa area in the basement. The photographs of the pool on the website are very accurate - it really is finished to a very high standard. Some websites describe the hotel as 'out of town'. Don't let this put you off. You are in Kitzbuhel, near shops, bars and other hotels. It is literally a few minutes into the main town centre and we walked into town every evening for drinks at the local bars. The town is a very friendly and safe place to stay. In the summer months there is a lot of live music entertainment in the main street. Overall, a great holiday and we will definitely return to the Jagerwirt!

Many have commented on the exceptional helpfulness of the staff at the Jagerwirt. This is true. They seem to have been hand picked for their people skills which make this a very welcoming hotel.
With a few tweaks I would give this place a mark of five.

We had a lovely junior suite on the first floor, which was furnished in typical Tyrolean style, which we liked. There was plenty of space for all our possessions & to relax after, what turned out to be, wet days in the mountains.

The food was hit & miss - a good breakfast would have been made better by a little variety of cake. One area of the buffet tended to get quite congested. There was plenty of choice for evening meals - the soups were sometimes very tasty, fish good, but unfortunately the meat was always tough & chewy. I appreciated the patience shown toward me regarding my food intolerances, which they always tried to accommodate. Wine was very expensive. We were rather baffled by the Gala Dinner as there was actually less choice then, than any other evening.

We would have spent more time, & money, in the bar, had there been some decent entertainment. Piano & vocals sounded like a fine idea, but the reality was that we spent the evening trying to guess which (English) song was being sung. It was often unrecognisable.
This was a shame as the bar was otherwise cosy & inviting.
Instead, we'd walk into the town centre where one evening we listened to a fantastic, jolly group singing Tyrolean songs. It was so much more uplifting.

The hotel is well situated for a riverside walk to the village of Aurach & there is plenty to do in & around the beautiful Kitzbühel area. The mountain hüttes are a real treat.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at this friendly, well run, unpretentious hotel & appreciated the cosy atmosphere created by its delightful staff.

Stayed at the Jagerwirt for 2 weeks in July/August. This was our second visit to the hotel but the first in the summer. We previously stayed for a week over Christmas . Kitzbuhel is a place that we visit regularly. We travelled with Thomson and had an excellent price for the two week holiday and chose the hotel over a much better one right in the centre of the town due to this being an extra unexpected summer trip.
We found the food generally to be very good. Yes there was a lot of pork served, but we found the soups lovely and the salad bar typical of Austrian hotels and really enjoyable. The food in general is very Austrian but the choice was good with a vegetarian option daily. I enjoyed the breakfast immensely with fresh fruit and Austrian hams and cheeses, a variety of breads etc . I know that the hotels are given limited budgets by the tour companies and we have had far worse food in 2 other hotels that we've stayed in Kitzbuhel.
The staff were good as previous reviews stated with some more helpful than others. Yet I wouldn't say they were all wonderful as previous reviews suggest. There's a fab lady on reception who is always cheerful and helpful. (So sorry I didn't know your name, but she has dark curly hair) also Sabine the waitress was lovely and our other waitress fromSlovakia was great.

We paid extra for a junior suite and the room was large with lots of storage and a balcony with excellent views of the Hahnenkham. However, the room was very dated and the bathroom was very dark with tiles reminiscent of the 1970s . We also had a smell in the room in the afternoons which we reported and were told that it was the drains and that it would be sorted. Yet this smell remained every afternoon and was worse on some days than others . Also our room had an old brown carpet which urgently needs replacing. We noticed that other rooms had wood/laminate floors. Our room definitely needs an urgent update. [room 483) We did however have a great flat screen TV with English channels which was pleasing
Overall would I stay at the Jagerwirt again?
Yes definitely, because We love the town and it is a less pricey option as some of the hotels are now becoming very expensive to suit the needs of the rich clientele who frequent the town in summer and more so in winter.
I don't know if we d ever consider paying the winter prices again that are being charged for the old fashioned room that we were given.( this winter were renting a modern appartment)
However for the price we paid during the summer it was acceptable (apart from the smell). I agree with previous review that wifi should be free and not 10 euro per week. It is true that you get what you pay for -what we paid our extra summer holiday what we got was good but the room was disappointing.

Accommodation: - Rooms we had were 1st floor suits, very spacious but very tired in need of refurbishment. Balcony had missing tiles with weed growing through. Old furniture. I understand this hotel being in a ski resort has a longer season and will therefor have heavy traffic as a result. However the cleanliness was spot on.
Food: - I can’t understand how so many reviewers on this site have rated the food at this hotel high. I have not had such bad food for years although this is the first time I have been to Austria, so it may just be the Austria standard. So much of the starters were recycled through the salad bar 2 days later, like the chicken marie rose, Indian egg, and sausage pate. We had the gala dinner of pork loin which was inedible due to being pink in the middle—dangerous with pork. Also on the farmers buffet had 5 items on the carvery—Roast pork, Roast pork stuffed with dumpling (which is also served separately), Ham, a large reconstituted pork sausage like a giant frankfurter and turkey which looked very like ham – so 4 items from a pig and one dubious bird. The salad bar never had any peppers or cherry tomatoes and was mostly the same day in day out. There was creamed soup every day which although varied in flavours there was an obvious common base used each day. Soup and gravies were always overly salty. The starters were sometimes just embarrassing to be called such.
Service:- The service at the Jagerwirt is definitely on a par with the star rating, all staff were helpful, friendly and always served with a smile. It’s a shame having such high quality staff serving substandard food.
Lounge area: - Comfortable lounge with decent beer and a selection of good malt whisky although a tad expensive. However the regular entertainment was tiresome after you had heard it once, with a decent enough piano player dodgiliy singing various songs which all seemed to have the same tempo.
Sports bar area: - Can’t comment since we walk in and out again when we realised they are still allowed to smoke in public bars.
Wellness suit: -Adequate facility although the relaxation areas around the main pool were not such due to the screaming kids playing in the pool. Nude sauna area no access to children but adults kept bringing them into use the toilet since the only other toilet accessible from the pool area was the one shared by the public bar.
Hotel Location:- We did not mind the hotel being just outside the town centre since it gave you somewhere to walk to in the evenings after diner.
Resort: - Day time activities available here are fantastic. Great walks and excursions on offer. Although we went with the tour company on bust trips to Salzburg, Kriml falls and Grossglockener all were too hurried and I would recommend going to Salzburg and Innsbruck by train to give you more time to enjoy these lovely cities.
Kitzbuhel:-Lovely town but lacks soul some nights when it can be dead. Loved when the Tyrollean brass band played however.

Just spent a week with my wife at this hotel their really is nothing to fault and only things to praise. The staff are the real thing that makes this such a great place to stay, always greeted with a smile and nothing ever too much. Room 354 we were in has a great view up the mountain to the cable cars and was clean on arrival and kept clean all week by the daily service. Food is excellent and offers a superb variety each evening. Kitzbuhel itself is a very expensive place to shop because of all the designer shops but if you smoke and drink you are laughing as cigarettes are €4 for 20 and a bottle of vodka from a supermarket €7. Worgl which is only a 40min train ride away is much more "real world" price wise and has a great shopping mall. Stay here and you won't be disappointed. My only advice would check the weather before you come to Austria as it rained 6 out of 7 days.

Fabulous hotel. The rooms are very clean and spacious. All of the staff are extremely professional and willing to go the extra mile to help make your stay a memorable one - the restaurant staff are always so polite and helpful whilst the reception staff are also very knowledgeable about accessing the surrounding area. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The food was delicious, varied and plentiful. I really could not fault anything. Also ideally located for cable cars and train station but only 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Perfect holiday. The Welsh family from County Durham, England.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the gardens and away from the main road which I w...

We stayed in the Jagerwirt for 2 weeks from 26th July - 9th August. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the town centre. My wife, myself and our 10 year old son had a good clean room on the fourth floor, facing the rear of the hotel, with the balcony overlooking the Hahnenkamm . The Staff are all very friendly and make you feel at home. The restaurant staff are great at their job and are always happy and helpful. The buffet breakfast and 5 course dinner were very good with a choice of dishes and vegetarian options. We used the pool and sun garden on numerous occasions both of which were kept clean and tidy. We also used the adjoining bar which had a number of sports channels, dart board and pool table.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great hotel with a relaxed friendly atmosphere and I would definitely stay here again in the future.
Thanks for a great time.
