What can i say,,,,,,,an absolute pit. the carpets have never been cleaned the shower doors fell off the beds were worn out decor was pathetic the bar was a waste of time neilson staff were more interested in their own holiday the hotel manager just smiled and nodded at anything that was said and we were woken up at 4 every morning by the snow plough...do not book this for you stay you will be hugely dissapointed.....0/10....an absolute discrace to a charming resort

A friend and i stayed at the Hotel Tyrol in September 2009 on a Mountain biking holiday with Mountain Edge and found the accommodations well above average for the price bracket.

We had a triple room on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the Church across the road, the room was clean and the beds were comfy there was also a TV in the room.

The food was good hearty Austrian food which was needed and well appreciated after a hard days mountain biking.

The staff were all excellent, they were very polite and always happy to help. We spent several nights chatting to Rieni and Sandra the managers and their daughter and son in law who help run the hotel we shared many a Jager together.

All in all i would recomend this hotel, Kitzbuhel is a great place to mountain bike in the summer and the hotel is a great base, speak to Rob at www.mountainedge.co.uk

Went to this hotel with 7 ladies for my friend sharons 40th birthday bash and thought what have we done was like fawlty towers .But in all fairness the staff were some of the best i;ve come across having travelled wide and far around the globe nothing was a problem for them, breakfast was limited but the 3 course eve meal with choice of courses was spot on, all customers were impressed considerig what we all payed. If you want to stay in the room theres no telly either. So if you just want a cheap hotel with good food hot water and a clean bed this is all you are gonna get . BUT THE HOLIDAY WAS ABSOUTELY FANTASTIC....

Just returned from weeks skiing in Kitzbuhel, staying in Hotel Tyrol which is very shabby and run down. Bar area was very depressing - furniture threadbare and old. There were 3 plastic bins with brooms on sight in the bar area and white electrical cable running across the sidewall, which was not chased to the wall and looked unsightly, connected to an old TV sat on top of dust. Electrical cable continued to a free standing light - again dangling free!
First breakfast (sunday) was dissappointing - stale white bread, watery fruit juice, tinned fruit, uht milk and other inferior products. For the rest of the week, I dined out for all meals.
Bedroom was very basic, uncomfortable bed, no TV and at peak times no hot water! Sometimes no water at all! Bedroom floor appeared not to get hoovered and several occassions towels were not tidied up. Housekeeping was very poor.
Neilson's contract with this Hotel expires next year, so do not expect any improvements! Neilson and the Owners have sucked the profit from the hotel and invested nothing in return.
The Hotel Tyrol makes a Travelodge look like a 5 star hotel!

We stayed here in Jan 2010 and the hotel was excellent. The food was really good, the staff were friendly and happy to go out of their way to make our stay more comfortable. The rooms were basic but warm and comfortable and there was always enough hot water for a shower or bath. The location is excellent too, with either a short walk to the ski bus (free) or a 10 minute walk to the nearest lifts. The manager of the hotel, Reinhardt (excuse spelling) was excellent too, always happy to help. The only thing we missed was tea/cakes after skiing but there is a fabulous coffee shop just around the corner which does a great latte and delicious selection of cakes too! The bar was fun and lively in the evenings too.

Went on a Mountain bike holiday with Mountain Edge to the hotel Tyrol and it was great! We had a standard double room which was easily big enough for us, especially nice was the balcony that got loads of evening sun after a days biking. Room was clean and food was good. Reini (the manager) made us welcome from the start and organised veggie meals for me which were excellent, especially for Austria!

The mountain biking was also excellent for us as bikers used to the UK bike parks, although quite a bit harder at times!!! Loved swimming in the Schwarzsee lake too! Prefer Kitzbuhel in the summer now!!!!!

Thanks

Neilson are obviously doing something right. The staff all seemed very happy to be working there, and that happiness rubs off on the guests too. Any request we made was fulfilled gladly, whether it be tea outside of hours, more vegetables, or changing our mind on our food order. The hotel is in an excellent location, only 5 minute walk from the ski lift I was using daily. The rooms had a lovely balcony with an excellent view, right next to a church with bells that helpfully woke us up every day at 7am :)
