If you want to be properly looked after, enjoy superb accommodation, excellent food, be pasmpered by a truly caring owner and her delightful staff do not think of going anywhere else.
Sure, there may be big five star hotesl which cost a small fortune.
But they are soulless by comparison and too expensive.
Frau Hertha has found the magic recipe for everything you could want.
Our party of six (all skiing men) have checked out today from our first stay.
But before leaving, we booked to return next year at the same time.
This group has travelled to many areas but had never enjoyed such wonderful care in a fantastic environment with the stunning views to the Hahnenkamm end zone clearly visible.
The centre is a pleasant ten minute stroll and there opens all the facilities of Kitzbuhel.

Villa Mellon is the perfect for a comfortable skiing break without breaking the bank. Delicious breakfasts and dinners, comfortable bedrooms and roaring fires in cosy "shabby chique" lounges. Lovely sauna suite with loungers to relax after a hard day's skiing. Fantastic staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. I'd return like a shot.

There are 2 main singular characteristics of.... lets call it "Hotel".

The first thing you notice is the remarkable nobel and peaceful mood from the very beginning. It it not 5 star luxury; it is much better; the house was built by a Cont in the middle of the last century, and this is something than you can feel everywhere. There are a lot of good quality objects that might not be "brand new", but this is part of the mood!

The second one is the Manager, Herta. It could be defined as helpful, proffesional, nice and so on, but I wiil say: "SHE CARES"; you can feel she really get up every morning to make their ghest live better while spending their time in her house.

Don't misunderstand my words; you will probably find more luxury in a 5 star hotel, but they will never be able to deliver such a nice stay!

We have been there twice till now for our Christmas holidays because it is ideal for making one's Christmas dream come true: Villa Mellon gives one a welcome feeling from the first moment one steps in, as all common areas are beautifully and cozily decorated with antique furniture and in different warm colours, giving the impression that one is at home. In the morning one can enjoy a delicious and rich breakfast with hand- made jams in the breakfast room, decorated in tyrolean style. The hotel is ideally located (only 10' minutes walking either to the ski school / gondolas or to the town's centre. It is situated on a nice hill in the nature where the children can enjoy ski sleighing or nice walking in the wood. At night, Herta, the landlady, who is a real treasure, offers a three-course gourmet dinner in candlelight and with a fire in the fireplace in a very romantic atmosphere, while children can enjoy, earlie,r children- oriented food. After dinner one can relax in the main lounge with a nice library and big fireplace with leather sofas or in the tea room in Laure Ashley style. The rooms are comfortable, clean, warm and cozily decorated with nice view. We definetely recommend the hotel either for romantic holidays or for for families with children (we have done both) because one feels secure there (only 15 rooms): the children can sleep upstairs while the parents indulge themeselves in wine downstairs. Ever since we stayed there we have decided to spend our Christmas holidays there every year thanks to the kindest hospitality of Herta and the coziness of the place itself, but one must book at least 6 months in advance, as the hotel is very popular in Austria and Germany. Finally we believe that the hotel would be ideal not only for winter but also for summer vacations because it has a nice swimming pool outdoors and a nice garden with swings.

We stayed in Villa Mellon recently, as we and other friends arranged to take over the whole hotel for a long weekend. Some friends had stayed there during the skiing season and recommended it, when we decided to organize a group holiday.
We all had a fantastic time and Herta who runs the place could not have been more helpful or relaxed. This is a perfect hotel for visiting with children as there is a big enclosed garden with swings, bicycles, a swimming pool and a trampoline. It's also great for adults, as you can have breakfast on the terrace and there is a wonderful living room/library with a huge fire place where you can relax in the evening over a few glasses of wine.
As we were such a big group Herta organised a 3 course dinner for us all (for which we agreed a fixed price which included the drinks) and organised a DJ - the party carried on until 8 am in the morning and Herta and the staff stayed awake throughout looking after us and then began to prepare breakfast! The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms clean and well appointed, it is not a boutique hotel but everything is very clean and comfortable. We could not have had a better time and would higly reccomend the Villa Mellon.

We stayed at Villa Mellon from 22nd April to 25th and had a great time. The hotel is situated about 5 - 10 mins walk from the town and nearest ski lift, so you dont need a car once you arrive if your not planning on traveling far. Herta, who runs the hotel with her staff, cannot be more helpful and she also speaks very good English. Villa Mellon doesnt have a big grand entrance like some of the more popular hotels, but dont let that put you off. Once inside, there is a fairly large entrance hall leading to a library with massive fireplace - great to relax after a hard day on the slopes and chat about the days events with a few glasses of wine. There is also a dinning room with another large fireplace and a small lounge and breakfast room. The rooms on the 1st floor are the largest, and I would say they are more of a suite than a room. Our room had 2 large single beds which were pushed together, this seems to be the norm in Austria, and a sofa which also converts to a bed. Theres plenty of wardrobe space for clothes and draw space for your smalls. The bathroom we had marble floors and walls with a huge bath and great shower. The floor felt like it had underfloor heating.
On the lower ground floor is a sauna room and more accomodation with a couple of adjoining rooms. (we had a good nosey round as we were the only ones staying at the hotel - it was out of season.) On the second floor, most of the rooms were just double, no sofa bed. We didnt have an evening meal at the hotel, but the breakfast was more than adequate. Plenty of fruit, ceareal, juice, cheese, meat, rolls, toast, tean and coffee. Also Herta will cook eggs if you want. There is a large garden with a swimming pool for summer use and great views of the nearby Kitzbulerhorn. This hotel is definatley not one of the big flash ones you can get in Kitzbuhel - but if you like the smaller hotel where the owner knows your name - then this will be for you.
