We found Hans the chef and his wife quite friendly. The food from their restaurant in the evening was delicious. But the breakfast has need for improvement (bread rolls were stale)
Rooms tidy and comfortable. But the whole place could do with a paint job.

The service for this pension was average. Nothing special, but the woman seemed nice enough. We got two nights here at the last minute. My boyfriend and I dropped in for lunch at the restaurant underneath the hotel, having just lost our reservations somewhere else, and were looking for a place to stay for about the same price as our other plans (30 Euros per person per night).
The restaurant was tasty, and the room was spacious and nice. It was on the corner of the building, so traffic was a little noisy (but the location of the hotel is great). Our room included a sink, shower and a large closet. The toilet was just down the hall. The beds were a little lumpy but not awful. On our second day, the service delivered fresh towels to our room. Also, the price we paid included a delicious breakfast, which was very filling. The hotel also offers many brochures, information guides, and maps of the area. The only downside I found was that there was no internet. However, the hotel is not far from internet cafes.

This hotel is relatively cheap and located not far from the city center, but is not friendly to international travelers. When we (2 clean-cut late 20-somethings) went to check in at the hotel for 2 nights, the manager/owner was continuously rude towards us. Nevertheless, the room seemed fine, if small, and while they had a lot of rules about locking the doors and checking out early, we were in a pinch, so we attempted to rent the room.

The manager must have had a bad experience, because they demanded that we look through a list of rules (that were only in german), I guess for legal reasons. When we attempted to pay for the room up front (for the record, 75% of the hotels we stayed in trusted us enough to pay at check out), they used some crazy scooby-doo detective work to (wrongfully) determine that we were trying to pay with a fake credit card. Despite our best efforts to calm them and offers to pay by other means, they called the police on us and we were detained at the police station while an officer (who was very friendly and as confused by the owner as we were) confirmed that the credit card was fine. At least the interrogation room was nicer than the room we would have stayed in. We ended up renting a very nice guesthouse instead, but it was definitely an unneccessary waste of our vacation time.

If you are looking for a cheap hotel, stay away from this one and choose the more centrally located Pension Sonne, or if you need parking, stop by the tourist office and try one of the guesthouses. Either option will save you money and attitude.
