The waiters we had were very helpful and professional. The food was pretty good too (we had the salmon with beet risotto and the wiener schnitzel). There was also live music in the for of someone playing the accordion.

Make sure to visit the Mark Twain room when you are there (you don't have to eat there to see it; just ask the wait staff and they will direct you). There, you can see the wall with a few famous signatures (Mark Twain, Beethoven, Mozart, etc).

Invited by a friend to experience the traditional local cuisine in one of the oldest traditional restaurants in the central part of the Vienna. Tried their pork which was not bad, somewhat disappointed by the service.

We decided to visit this restaurant due to its apparent good reviews and historical significance.

The food was very good; I got the lamb chops and my brother ordered the pig leg.

However, the service was terrible. The waitress was careless and did not seem to care that we were paying customers and wanted good service with our meal.

As with most restaurants here, we always ask for tap water as it tastes the same as bottled water without the fee attached to it. Nevertheless, we noticed a 5 euro charge on the bill, for a few glasses of tap water. We have been to numerous restaurants in North America, Europe and Asia, and have never been charged for tap water (Which should be FREE. Period.). When we asked the waitress why we were being charged, she immediately became defensive and rude, practically yelling in the small dining room.

In summary, I believe there are better restaurants in Vienna.

Opened in 1447 is one of the most ancient restaurants in the world. The food is very good but the service can't be attentive due to the crowd eager to have a seat and eat. Be prepared for a long line.

Griechenbeisl is one of the oldest operating inns in the city center dating back to 1447 and is worth visiting for the old world charm. It is very well maintained and the food was good, although a bit pricey due to it's notoriety. Over the centuries many famous folks have patronized the inn and there are framed autographs on the walls of the famous Mark Twain room to ensure that their presence lives on (a virtual who's who of historical celebrities). Because it is a tourist destination and popular the service was a bit rushed but professional.
