Description: In central Vienna the Kardos Restaurant invites you on an exciting culinary trip. Enter through the original Siebenberger door to a world of Viennese charm, find a wealth of character inspired by Hungary, Austria, Slovenia and beyond. Here traditional artworks by Franz Zelezny, dating to 1912 hang on the walls, there one hundred year old flower patterned plates give authentic charm. The old-world meets the new in a fusion of wood, glass and light, a superb reflection of the Kardos family and their gastronomic history dating back more than 100 years. Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Bohemia and the Balkans are represented on a varied menu which is a taste of home for many and a taste of foreign lands for others.

“Do Not Eat Here!”
Reviewed 16 October 2013 via mobile

When we walked in at around 8:00 there was only 1 table seated on the main floor. No other tables were seated during or 1.5 hours we were in the restaurant . 45 minutes later they brought one bowl of soup (we ordered 2). The explanation ... Big party down stairs. 10 minutes later the other bowl showed up. As we waited for the main to arrive we took a trip to the loo ... Gave us a chance to see the "big party downstairs". Didn't really see that many people. The mains were pretty much inedible ... I left mine nearly untouched. The meat was dry and over salted and the sauce on my Roulade was the same as on my husbands Paprikash... Worst meal I've had in so long I can't even remember!

“Good place for a Hungarian style dinner”
Reviewed 30 June 2013 via mobile

As things go, we went there on a Saturday evening, thinking we would be turned back, but the group of tourists occupying the place decided it was time for a beauty nap, so we found ourselves all alone on a Satursay evening :

In short, being all alone, the atmosphere was non-existant, but the staff were friendly and helpful and the food served was a good, plentiful and nicely presented ( a bit too salty for our taste though ).

All in all, a good value for the money we paid.

“Good chocolate cake”
Reviewed 28 August 2012

The decor was pretty nice. Service was attentive. I had a salad, fried chicken (like a schnitzel) with cranberry jelly and chocolate cake. I thought I had enough schnitzels for the 2 weeks travelling through Germany and Austria but I did enjoy their chicken schnitzel. The highlight was the delicious chocolate cake even though it was my second slice of chocolate cake that day. The restaurant was busy on a Wednesday night.
