“DESIGN, ELEGANCE AND POSITION”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

Very beautiful hotel in the heart of the city. I really appreciated the perfect fusion between modern and classical design. The position of the hotel is excellent. You can also spend your time into the very nice SPA. Absolutely recomanded!

Glad to say we had a very pleasant stay at this great hotel, strategically located in the Old Town area (Royal Palace was actually 2' walk!). Metro station was just there and so there were plenty of restaurants and bars nearby to choose from. Hotel staff is very professional, cooperative and kind, especially Simone at the front desk and the concierge guy. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and always impeccable. The bar by the lobby was always crowdy, though the ambient was always nice and relaxed, playing live music late at night (great drinks also!). Definitely would return to lovely Vienna and to this nice hotel.

Good quality of rooms and hotel for a fabulous location. Housekeeping was inconsistent during my stay but the room was clean when I arrived. The spa area is an oasis. Staff were very courteous and helpful. The bar is enclosed and completely smoky so never went in. Restaurant not open on Sunday and much of Vienna restaurants are closed on Sunday. Room service was awful and overpriced. Concierges were wonderful. Rooms need proper black out curtains.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are quiet but look into all the rooms - no privacy with curtains open.

Obviously, from the title of my review, one can figure out that the hotel is perfectly located. It is extremely close to the Hofburg Palace and a quick stroll away from some of the city's most well known cafes. The rooms were clean and the concierge was very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in a Deluxe room for 5 nights in December 2012 and really enjoyed our stay.

The room was large and nicely furnished and the bathroom was modern, spacious and beautiful with a shower over the tub and a separate private toilet. French doors in the room opened to a tiny balcony over a side road. We never heard any noise from the street but we did enjoy looking at the pretty Christmas lights that were strung across the laneway. The central heating worked well and was very welcome after spending the day roaming around Christmas markets in the cold.
We didn’t have breakfast included in our room rate but they did have a breakfast package which works out cheaper than just turning up in the breakfast room each day. You must sign up for this at checkin though. If you don’t they’ll charge you the higher rate when you checkout. The breakfast was magnificent - lots of choice with the usual European cold meats and cheese, plus lots of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cakes, cooked breakfast options (eggs, sausages, bacon, hashbrowns, mushrooms, tomatoes etc), juice, tea & coffee and even champagne! The breakfast room is on the ground floor and overlooks the street. If you want a different option for breakfast the iconic Café Central is right next door to the hotel and serves an a-la-carte breakfast menu. What an amazing looking cafe. Vaulted ceilings worthy of any fine cathedral, inlaid marble mosaics on the walls and fine furniture. The breakfast is about half the price of the hotel. Service is friendly but not super speedy so make sure you allow enough time if breakfasting here before a tour pickup.

The hotel staff were helpful with maps and suggestions and for day tour bookings. Make sure you are waiting in the lobby ahead of your pickup time or the drivers will leave you behind! Actually even if you are there ready & waiting they may still try to leave you behind. We were in the hotel’s sitting area – barely 5 meters from the reception desk and luckily heard the pickup driver whisper our last name to the desk staff. The driver didn’t come and check with the people sitting waiting and he was about to take off 20 seconds after coming into the hotel. Austrians take keeping to their schedule very, very seriously so stay alert or they will leave you behind. This is not an issue with the hotel – just a friendly heads up if you book tours.

We loved the location of the hotel. It was close enough to the city centre to be central to various attractions, but far enough out that you know you’ll get a good rest at night. We generally walked most places as our visit was at Christmas time and we came to experience the markets (magnificent btw) and see all the decorated streets. Though we didn’t use it, there is a subway station very close to the hotel.

When we checked out the staff gave us a Lindt Santa as a parting gift. How sweet! And lucky as this ended up being our lunch on the bus from Vienna to Prague that day!

this is the first time I have been staying in this hotel located in the centre of Vienna and It is perfectly placed to explore the city. At first look the hotel seem nice but nothing spectacular, but inside it has very tasteful decor and the service is brilliant. I really like the rooms too, very modern and welcoming.

So if you are in Vienna and want to be in the centre of it all, this is a great option

We stayed at the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof Wien for 5 nights in December 2013. My cousin and I did a lot of research to find the right hotel - reasonable price and good location - and our whole group was very pleased with this hotel.

Positive aspects :
- minibar is free of charge
- breakfast buffet has a very good selection
- Bathroom is spacious - shower, toilet and sink are in separate areas of the bathroom. Toilet has its own door within the bathroom
- hotel is very close to designer shopping (Burberry, Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton etc) and Graben Street - shops, restaurants, the famous Julius Meinl..
- Reception is excellent - very helpful in reserving airport transfers, restaurant reservations, arranging rooms near each other...
- Personnel is very friendly and very helpful
- about a 5-7 minute walk to St. Stephan Cathedral
- 2 minute walk to Hofburg Palace and its museums
- about 10 minute walk to largest Christmas Market at Rathaus
- about 10 minute walk to Figlmuller for Schnitzel
- kettle with tea and coffee in room
- plenty of towels and toiletries
- 3-5 minutes to famous cafes such as Cafe Demel
- very good Italian restaurant across the street - Va Piano. Quick and tasty-self service type. Tasty pizzas and pastas. Alternative if you get tired of schnitzel !!!

So-so aspects :
- rooms are not very spacious but adequate for 1-2 people.
- a/c does indeed make a bit of noise but even though I am a light sleeper, it did not bother me at all.
- housekeeping did not take care of the used coffee cups in two of our rooms on one occasion

Must-do's in Vienna :
- visit the Hofburg Palace
- visit the Sisi Museum in the Hofburg Palace
- take the hop-on hop-off tour for at least 2 lines
- have some coffee at visit the extensive gourmet shop of Julius Meinl
- have some cake and coffee at Cafe Demel
- visit the Christmas markets (if around the holiday season) and enjoy some gluhwein and pastries

If we do go back to Vienna, we will definitely stay at the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof Wien again.
