The best part about sitting in the museumsquartier in the summer is to watch an incredibly quiet courtyard by day, turn into an utterly charming and sophisticated venue by night (well everything about Vienna is sophisticated anytime any day).
A turn of events led us to Halle and we were quite pleased with the (almost) final destination of the evening. The entire courtyard of the museumsquartier was crowded with guests dining in the number of cafes lining the walls of the courtyard and locals lounging by the fountain, laying in the double ended chaise chairs accompanied by their own picnic baskets, bottles of wine and absolute joy.
Quickly greeted by our server, our delicious cocktails were served within minutes. After exploring the streets of Vienna for hours, with minimal moments of quiet time between my girlfriend and I, we were happy to sit in silence and soak it in.
Servers were super friendly, I had the tofu sandwich and she a very delicious chicken sandwich. We sat there for hours, joined later by our newly made friends and it was perfect. Watching the courtyard come to life over the hours was a bit like watching a time lapse in slow motion.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for a 7 course gourmet meal, but it’s a perfect way to experience the museumsquartier in the evening.
OH PS, the prices are outstanding!
You will get kicked out at a certain hour due to noise regulations but you can take a beer to go and hang out with the locals, sitting fountain side and quite frankly, that’s an even BETTER way to experience it! ☺
