We stayed at the Adagio Hotel with our 16 month old. The hotel is at a great location where it isn't too busy, but also very close to the metro. It is also very easy to walk to all the shopping areas if you don't mind walking. The room itself was sort of small, but had everything we needed including a kitchen. They also have a laundry room on site, which cost about 7.50 Euro total to do 1 wash and dry, but was very convenient. They also provided you with laundry detergent free of charge.
The Adagio is very well located in the centre ring of Vienna. Easy walk to the heart of the city and locations in the city (Opera House, St Stephans, Parks etc). Staff were friendly and provided assistance.
The Hotel is an 'apartment hotel' so no daily servicing of your room which was no big deal for us. The room is equipped with a good kitchen with all appliances and good size bathroom.
However, we were not expecting our sitting room and bedroom to be the one room with the settee converting to the bed by a 'pull down bed' from the wall. Whilst this was relatively easy to pull down, (although the weight of the bed may be difficult for a smaller person to manage) the practicalities of putting the bed away each day was simply not viable so the bed stayed down and we made do without the settee. This benefit of having an apartment was lost though this arrangement. As we were there for 6 days,
The other issue with the pull down bed is that it was lacking in comfort as it was reasonably hard.
Would we stay there again - possibly not with that bedroom arrangement. However it was extremely well located with really well decorated entrance and dining area. Whether they have other rooms with a proper bed is uncertain but worth exploring.
We stayed for four nights in a one room apartment on the fourth floor with a view of the canal.
Although situated on the corner of a busy junction it was very quiet with the windows closed. The room was light, very clean and well furnished although the carpets were worn and need replacing. There was a very large, comfortable, 'pull-down' double bed and ample wardrobe space. The bathroom was attractive, modern and also very clean.The kitchenette was very well equipped with hot plate, microwave and dishwasher where we could cook light meals. ( a
supermarket is close to the hotel}
The location is great with a short walk to Swedenplatz for the U Bahn, trams and 'Hop on' buses to all parts of the city. Swedenplatz also has a good selection of cafes, restaurants and the best ice cream parlour in Vienna!
The staff were very friendly and gave us lots of useful information on the hotel itself and on places to visit, transport etc. If you are looking for comfortable, self-catering accommodation in a great location in Vienna we recommend the Adagio.
