If you're looking for haute cuisine with bourgeois service you shouldn't be coming to a Heurigen in Grinzing. That's a basic point other reviews seem to be missing.
These places are by definition unrefined, rough at the edges and a lot of fun. You don't go to McDonald's and complain about the lack of ambience after all.
Of the Heurigen this is the best. It is very old, has a wonderful atmosphere, "slap it down on the wooden table" type service, cheesy music provided by enthusiastic musicians and hearty, good, plentiful food. The wine is dirt cheap and quite reasonable quality. The place is big and backs on to the vineyards.
If you want a very different, extremely typical Austrian evening out then this is the place for you. Just make sure you've got the right attitude before you walk in.
