“Adequate but economical”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Hotel itself was nothing special but I have no complaints neither. Room was clean and adequately equipped. Staff wasn't tripping over themselves to be helpful but I wasn't looking for any either. Location is off the beaten path a little but several metro stations were within a 5-10 min walk away. Best upside was probably the price; myself being non-European, prices for pretty much anything in most of Europe always shocks me a bit and it was no different in Vienna, but for once I didn't feel like I overpaid with the rates I was charged for this stay.

In regards to my comment about the staff; I learned later and certainly observed it to be true that in Austria, staff in the service industry are generally passive or even consider rude by other country's standards, reason is that they get paid well enough and do not rely on gratuities for their living.

Smart and very clean hotel big downfall was the BEDDING, did not get any good nights sleep.Duvet ( blanket in Vienna) was to small and would easily fall off with the consequent disturbed nights sleep.

Breakfast is great but at 17.00 euros is expensive( However you do get a good choice of items and plentiful) if you are coffee and toast fan for breakfasts try the local cafes bread shops.

Helpful reception staff is always a plus. Outside city centre, but easy to get anywhere using underground or city bicycle; stations 2-3 blocks away. About 30 minutes walk from the city centre. No views and no sites in immediate proximity. Clean. To get there I took the City Airport Train to Landstrasse station and then a short taxi to the hotel. Worked out almost 3x cheaper that a taxi straight from the airport.

I was very lucky as I got a great deal on this hotel so my review might be a bit biased. I got a junior suite on the 6th floor which had its own balcony. The room was very comfortable and very bright. The bed was perfect (not too hard and not too soft). Most of my other experience in Austria were that the beds were way too soft for me. Also, the shower and bathroom were modern and immaculate. In terms of location, only about a 10 minute walk to old city Vienna. Great for sight seeing. They provided free bottled water (not that its necessary with Austria's excellent tap water) as well as coffee and tea in the room. Also, the staff was excellent helping me find my way to Linz in a cheaper and faster way then provided by google maps. This would be my choice if I were to come back to Vienna (assuming I can get a good price on the room).

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. Cleaning was spotless. Beds were very comfortable. Quiet. Kettle, coffee, tea, milk in the room for no extra cost. Receptionists polite and helpful. 10 minutes walking to the Stephandom. 5 minutes walking to the UBahn Station. Good area. We strongly recommend.

Imlauer Wien is very well located. 2 blocks from metro station. Across the street you can find a supermarket. On a walking distance you cross the danubio channel and is in the most popular area in downtown with hundreds of cafès and restaurants. The room is clean, not big but accomadates 2 reasonably and with comfort. Staff is friendly and speaks english. The only downside is that the thermostater was not controlled in the room so during the night we felt hot.
Imaluer is more a hotel for businessmen than for tourists. It is similar to Mercure.
I recommend this hotel!
