Karl's place was quite, clean, convenient, and reasonably priced. I also felt very secure and looked after since I was staying by myself as a solo female traveler. Loved the kitchenette and the internet availabilty was also a really big help.

Room Tip: No swimming pool, but this isn't America. ha ha. Enjoy your stay.

Stayed in this pension for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay here, mainly due to the convenience and the comfort. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood but very easy and fast to reach the old city. NO worry! Karl is a good host. He provide not only a comfortable place for us to stay but also other services. He will answer all your questions and provide shuttle service ( with additional charge). He also has a weighing tool to weight your luggage - good for those who shop a lot.

The breakfast was served in beautiful porcelain (from Czech..haha checked the labels) with some cold cuts and freshly baked rolls. It was delicious. Breakfast is usually served around 830 am-10:30 am in the morning. After communicate with Karl, he agreed to serve our breakfast earlier at 8:00 am. So, if you plan to start your day early, make sure you communicate well with Karl about your breakfast time.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay! Thank you Karl and your wife!

What a wonderful place to stay in Vienna!!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our days in Vienna, mainly due to the convenience and comfort of Pension Vitis. We were less than two blocks from the bus and were easily able to come back for a rest and then return to the City for an evening event.

Karl was a wonderful host. His picking us up at the Train was a great convenience and the Transportation passes worked perfectly.

Thank you Karl for a delightful stay.

Could the previous reviews be correct?
They definitely were, this is a fantastic place to stay and Karl was the perfect host.
He picked us up at the airport, bought our metro passes, gave us all the local information regarding shops, bus stops and metro stations, then delivered us back to Pension Vitis to settle in.
On our arrival, there were plenty of leaflets and information to help us make decisions on our daily excursions, plus a bonus - the weather for our stay was brilliant.
Breakfasts - these were served daily by Karl in our room, a real treat to start our day.
Karl also made us a packed breakfast on our departure at 6am and delivered us to the station for our onward travel.
This really is the most perfect place, owned by the perfect host, what more can I say!!!

We stayed three nights at the Pension Vitis in September for the package deal of 265 Euros, which included a 72 hour transportation pass. We also had Karl pick us up at the airport (21 Euros) and take us to the train station (8 Euros) on the rainy morning we left for Melk. The airport pickup included a driving tour of the old city area, providing a wonderful orientation for our walking tour, tram rides on the ring roads, and convenient bus (48A) back to the Pension Vitis. Karl Gerstl is the owner and a wonderful host, easy to contact since he lives on site, and he seems genuinely interested in helping guests enjoy his Vienna, as evidenced by his thoughtful inclusion of the transportation pass, which we loved. Our double room was really more an apartment, providing a fridge and cooktop (which we didn't use) along with coffee and tea. It was exactly the sort of clean, comfortable, BandB that we hope to have wherever we travel. The pension is nicely located for easy bus ride to the old city (about 5-10 minutes) and there are some good Austrian restaurants within a few blocks, along with a small shopping center. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and dinner at the Gasthouse Elsner, a few blocks away. The wi-fi reception was excellent. We hope to stay with Karl the next time we visit Vienna.

Room Tip: Karl has only two rooms, and both seem to be of the same high quality.

We spent three days at VITIS. In a quiet neighborhood with easy, 15 minute bus ride to the city. Our host Karl was friendly, enthusiastic and very helpful in educating us about the city. The room was very comfortable and quite reasonable. Excellent breakfast. Using him for the connections went flawlessly.

Vienna was the first stop for our vacation, so after two flights it was so nice to have Karl waiting for us at the airport to drive us to his Pension Vitis. The small fee was definitely worth it. The apartment building was located in a quiet area outside of the city center. Nearby are a shopping mall, a supermarket and a several very good restaurants. The Pension's two apartments are on the second floor in their own area with available literature on Vienna and local attractions, as well as a computer for use by the Pension's guests. Free WiFi is also available. Our apartment was quite large- it was great to have the room to lay out luggage and not to be tripping over each other. The main room had a sofa, queen size bed, large free standing closet with shelves, a good sized dining table (could seat 4), and a TV. The toilet was in its own room; the shower and sink in another. The small kitchenette had a small refrigerator, sink, burners, coffee maker (with coffee pods, sugar & creamer), tea, pots, pans, plates, glasses and flatware. There were soft soap dispensers in the bathroom and shower, plus a hair blower. The furniture looked new and everything was very clean. There were electric blinds for the windows which blocked out all the street light, but just be careful you don't oversleep like we did the first day. After that when we turned out the lights, we opened one of the blinds so the sun would help
wake us. Karl asks when you would like him to bring your breakfast and he is right on time, knocking at your door and wheeling in a beautifully laid out assortment of cold meats, cheeses, rolls, jams, fruit and coffee or tea, plus a local newspaper. If there is something he didn't provide, just ask and he will try to get it for next time. We asked for soft boiled eggs and whole grain bread instead of white and he delivered. Also one time we told him we would be leaving early to catch a train to Meltz so not to worry about breakfast for us, but he offered to make us lunch the night before to take with us. That's Karl - a very nice man.
We bought a 72 hr. public transportation pass from Karl which we were able to use on the buses, subways, and trains- just stamp it in the blue machine on the bus the first time and keep it with you in case you are asked to show it. We never were. Public transportation was easy to use and only a short walk away.
Karl was a very good host - quiet, but very accommodating and helpful. He lives in an apartment on the same floor so he is readily available to answer any questions. The two local restaurants Karl recommended were great. Panorama is a Croatian restaurant where we were the only non-locals there. The waiter spoke a little English and was very helpful with our selections. The food was delicious and plentiful and the price was extremely reasonable. Gasthaus Elsner was also great with only friendly locals there and again the food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend Pension Vitis. My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Vienna and our stay at Pension Vitis.
