The museum has a very extensive collection of Hundertwasser's work, including early works at the age of 16. You get a glimpse into who this artist was and what he stood for. We got turned on to this artist from his time and work in New Zealand.

I didn’t visit the museum, it's not exactly the kind of museum that interests me. However, I went there especially to see the building that has a totally different architecture. A building at least as interesting, Hundertwasserhaus, the work of the same architect, can be find on Kegelgasse 36-38, about 400m far from here. Both locations reminded me the Gaudi's creations in Barcelona.

A building painted in an artistic way, mainly black and white. It is a good place to pass by and see for one time.

We had made a detour to see the flats designed by hundertwasser and noticed a display of some of his other buildings. Turned out this was close by and I am so glad we found it. 4 floors of diverse and imaginative art, architectural models, environmental designs, stamps, posters, video installations. The building itself is a piece of art. Onsite cafe. Fascinating. Best thing we did in Vienna. Teenager loved it especially as been to Belvedere earlier so we could compare and Contrast. This should be better publicised but glad it is not as we had it all to ourselves.

Kunst Haus Wien was founded by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, one of the most important Austrian artists of the twentieth century. The Hundertwasser Museum presents the world’s largest collection of prints, wallpapers, and architectural designs. It is also the first “green museum” in Vienna.
