Booked this hotel for a one-day stopover with a goal to be near the city. It was comfortable, within easy walk of many things to do, and plenty close to the U bahn as well.

Friendly staff at checkin and in the lounge, and great views from the top-floor lounge also.

This is nice hotel in downtown, next door to Stadtpark - 20 mins on CAT or taxi from Vienna airport.
Not the chipest one but still good value for money. Nice, clean rooms, very helpfull and cheerfull staff. No any complains from my side on service quality.
The hotel is big enouth and at breakfast time it might be crowded.
Buffet breakfast with very good variaties of any kind of food - from soup to water melons.
Breakfast in the club lounge is much more limited, but much less people and very nice view from 12th floor.
Very nice gym with helpfull trainers and good hardware - one of the best so far.
If you'd like to touch memories of "old good times" for a reasonable price - please come to stay in this hotel.

Great location. Slow check in with no apology from staff. Rooms fair,y comfortable but air conditioning very noisy–think cheap Caribbean hotels- and why oh why oh why (my pet hate) put two single duvets folded so that I have to make up the bed on a comfortable double base and am constantly woken up as the small cover falls off me. Ruins a potentially great nights sleep.

Could be great. Actually on,y average

My wife and I returned to Vienna after seven years, when we had also stayed at the Intercontinental. We were surprised and delighted to be offered an upgrade to a junior suite and were welcomed by the duty manager. The hotel's high level of standards and service have not changed since then and may even have improved. The breakfast buffet remains a highlight and the room was well appointed and fully equipped - you don't need to ask for an ironing board or incur steep charges for pressing a suit as you do in some five star hotels, by way of example. The bed was supremely comfortable with good linen. The staff were great - the concierge and bell boys provided helpful information, whilst one of the breakfast waitresses remembered our exact coffee/tea preferences on only the second day. The location of the hotel is perfect for those who want to visit the State Opera House or the famous Muzikverein and it is only 10-15 minutes' walk to the centre of the city. We arrived by car and there is parking underneath at an extra cost (EUR 32 per day). The hotel is easier to find by car than other more central hotels and its location just outside the inner Ring is a distinct advantage compared to having to locate by car a hotel inside the Ring, due to the complex one-way traffic system and narrow streets in central Vienna. Every hotel has a few drawbacks, but with the Intercontinental these are few and minor. There is no swimming pool (but then again how many visitors actually end up using them?). The four main lifts are very busy at peak times and you can find yourself waiting a few minutes for one, but this is only for a short time each day. The rather Soviet exterior design of the 1960s building is not to my taste, but this does not affect the quality of the five star experience my wife and I received inside. Full marks to the hotel for having provided us with a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Ask for your room to be well away from the lift lobby to avoid lift noise. If economising and choosi...

I am a travel designer from America (owner of Lisa Ball Travel Design, LLC) and I carefully researched Vienna for my group tours and for individuals. I think the InterContinental Wien is a fantastic hotel because of its wonderful location and for its superb staff! Each person in my recent 53-person group agrees with me and the hotel staff made each one feel special. I make the InterContinental Wien my "home" while in Vienna. I also enjoy the swanky Intermezzo Bar - the place to be seen in Vienna! This time I also used the fitness facility at the hotel and it is one of the best. I look forward to my next visit in Vienna and to the InterContinental Wien in July 2014!

Stayed here as part of Amex's FH & R programme and liked it all very much. We were upgraded to a suite (12th floor, great views) and found the early check in and check out useful. The lounge is very good with nice snacks and drinks. Staff friendly and helpful.

Used our 'credit' in the hotel's restaurant, which was OK rather than great. Will stay again when next in Vienna.

If you want to go to Schoenbrunn, it's just six or so stops from Staadpark station opposite the hotel. Had lunch in restaurant Italic about five minutes from the hotel - excellent.

All round a good stay.

We spent two nights here after a river cruise and were very pleased. We arrived at 9 a.m. and expected to have to store our luggage but a room was available right away. The check in staff were friendly and efficient and we were into the room within 10 minutes. The hotel is very conveniently located with a public transit station right across the street. It is also within walking distance (10 to 15 minutes) of St. Stephan's Cathedral and a major pedestrian mall with a wide range of shops, restaurants and activities. Our room on the fourth floor had a great view of Stadt Park which is just across the street. There was a food festival on when were were there. The room itself was a good size, actually bigger than most we have encountered in other large cities. The cleaning staff did a great job and the room was well supplied. The only minor issue we had was with the bed. When we were checking in, we were offered a king bed on the first floor or double beds on the 4th. We chose the fourth for the view after being told the beds were "together". We assumed one large mattress over two twin box springs. Unfortunately, it was just two twin beds on casters pushed together. If you move around much while you sleep, the beds moved and you risk rolling into the chasm between them! Lesson learned. Will ask a more specific question if this comes up again. We would recommend this hotel to anyone contemplating staying in Vienna.
