“A shrine not a museum”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

That's why I really liked it. It really is only for people who have a strong connection to Freud and his work. All other should be excused. I imagine this goes against the wishes of the museum administration, but too many people go there just to give themselves a patina of intellectualism. Please, stay home. This place is not for you. There is nothing to see, nothing to do, nothing to learn. For those who have stood in awe at the genius of Freud while reading word by word his prose and insights it helps you connect with your own emotions about the extraordinary intellectual adventure you have undertaken. If you know what I mean.

“Definetly worth a visit!”

Freud's museum in Vienna is not very large, but it's well worth a visit for anyone who is interested in the legacy of the founding father of psychoanalysis.

“Really intersting”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Having just graduated with a degree in psychology this was something I thoroughly enjoyed. Being in the room where Freud had his practice. Reading the letters he wrote to his family and also the letters trying to get him out of the country was fascinating.
My husband enjoyed it although not sure our friend how accompanied us did. Definitely worth a visit if you have an interest in this area :)

“Fascinating - but possibly only if this is your area”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

As a professional therapist, standing in Freud's consulting room was a truly special moment for me. This is where it all began . . . Having said that, my husband also found our trip to the museum worthwhile, so this isn't just for those 'in the business'.

Freud's former waiting room has been restored, with furniture and artwork; the contents of letters from Freud back to his family during his travels are pinned up to read; and there are random objects such as his hat and walking stick - all of which are interesting to observe. A short documentary film, put together by Anna Freud, plays on a loop, and is a great chance to see the man himself (usually next to a dog - now I wonder what that means . . .).
