Tram 71 takes you there. Tor 2 is the main entrance. The day we went, entry was free but there were no audio guides because, as the gateman said, they were "kaput". He supplied an essential map of the grounds. Tremendous and ornate tombs are quite near the main entrance. The rest of the grounds are huge and though less picturesque are nice for strolling. The Jewish area is quite overgrown between the pathways - a consequence of the 1930s.l The highlight is the domed Friedhofskirche, whose interior is amazing. So much to marvel at. Awesome in the proper sense of the word. Sadly there is no guidebook, just an A4 sheet telling you a bit about it.

Thank Ortrud

Took U3 simmering and caught Tram. Any tram that says it stops at Tor 2 (tram 71 for sure) will do- may need manual call to driver by pushing door buzzer. Musician graves nearer large church at end of road

Very large, but very interesting. We entered through gate 1, which was quite a long walk from the musicians. Best if you enter through gate2 and pick up a map( which we didn't!).

We " popped" in quickly specifically to see the graves of Beethoven and Mozart. They were easy to find and even greater that the musicians were all together. In hindsight I think a tour would have been really interesting but we didn't have the time. Well worth a visit. Easy to reach by tram ( gate 2 at the graveyard for the musicians). Very peaceful place with some very impressive graves!
