My wife & I visited here on a Tuesday in November and the weather was incredible, clear blue sky with a temperature of about 14 degrees. This place reminded us of Central Park in New York. We missed the Palace Maze by 2 days which was a bummer, must be a seasonable thing. We could have walked the gardens all day with not a care in the world. Absolutely amazing.

This is a huge palace and the gardens are enormous. I’d say it’s a must in Vienna. Short train ride as well. I would recommend getting there early to avoid crowds. We got there just before opening and literally had the place to ourselves. No big tour groups to deal with. By the time we finished the tour it was absolutely packed with people. So glad we went early.

The palace itself is really nice and there is a lot of information. However, the best part for me was the gardens.

We didn't go inside, but opted to visit the gardens.

We visited on a Saturday and were hoping the Christmas Market would be open (it wasn't).

The problem is, despite the good weather, this is not the season to visit. The gardens were stark without the flowers which no longer bloom at this time of year and the labyrinth was closed.

There was a beautiful cafe at the top of the hill, but we had just had breakfast. So if I were to return in the winter, it would definitely be on an empty stomach.

This is the summer residence of the Habsburg family. The palace, grounds and gardens are massive but everything is beautiful, a must see if in Vienna, words cannot describe it

A must see when in Vienna. Stunning insight into past Austrian royalty. Vast gardens which are free to wander. Give yourself a few hours to make the most of your visit.

We heard about this palace and wanted to see it for ourselves. The palace interior is wonderfully aged and majestic for the time period in which it is known for. The surrounding gardens are vast, and I’m sure beautiful when in bloom. Unfortunately we visited in cold weather and as expected the gardens were barren. I recommend this trip in late spring for full effect. Well worth the time and money to explore and learn of the palace and royal family history.
