“Perhaps the best meal of the week in Vienna!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014

We took a group of 6 here for dinner during the European Society of Radiology Meeting last weekend and had a fabulous evening of food, drink and fun. Arguably the best Weiner Schnitzel we had in Vienna and the house potatoes with it were superb. The waiter was spectacular and had the most distinctive voice I have ever heard. Very gravelly and deep. Everyone enjoyed the entire evening and the accordion player in our room was very accommodating to requests from our group! For dessert we had to get the Kaiserschmarrn as several in the group had never had it. It was also a superb rendition of the dish and was enjoyed by all.

Highly recommended - but not cheap by any means! You will enjoy it!

“Pricey, but worth it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2014

We went here for a proper Austrian dinner. A bit expensive, but the quality of food was superb and we had some great Austrian red wine. The place is beautiful, though of course a bit touristy. Our waiter proudly showed us the Mark Twain room where legends such as Mozart, Beethoven, Twain, Pavarotti, et. al. have signed the ceiling.

“Tradtional Austrian food in a charming, historic old building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

This place dates back to the 1400's, complete with crooked walls and irregular flooring. Mozart and Beethoven allegedly dined at this location, It is right next to the Eastern Orthodox church. There are multiple small rooms with wooden benches and chairs (equally crooked and a bit awkward to sit at) with cute folksy rhyming sayings on the walls and old art. They serve nicely prepared traditional Austrian cuisine. Calm atmosphere at lunch. We had a fine gulasch soup, a huge light Wienerschnitzel from veal with a refreshing light side salad, tender Zwiebelrostbraten with potatoes, and a red Austrian wine to go with it all. Service was pleasant and efficient, and there were both locals and tourists dining, businessmen and families, Menu is available in English. Prices are a little higher than what you pay at some places nearby but the atmosphere and service are worth it.

“Well worth the visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013 via mobile

The Griechen Beisel is well worth a visit simply for the outdoor photo oppertunity, never mind the (rather expensive) beer and food. I visited with my two friends and we all just got one 0.5L beer each priced at about ?5.70 per drink but we wanted he full experience.

Be warned: the location was incorrectly marked on the trip advisor app. I have located the correct location and notified trip advisor. Someone had marked it across from the state opera house when in actual fact it is about 10mins walk towards the river from there..
