The building and all the collections are worth visiting. I' d recommend the painting: Bruegel, for instance. The Egyptian rooms are a must.

This beautiful building was constructed to house the art collection, and includes paintings by Klimt in the decor. The highlights include paintings by Bruegel, Vermeer, Caravaggio Velasquez, Holbein, Rubens and many more. I wish I had time to spend there..

The restaurant in the museum is pretty good too, I enjoyed the filet of char.

Vienna has a remarkable "collection" of museums, the Kunsthistorisches Museum houses one of the best art collections in Europe. It houses pieces from the Hapsburgs art collection, it ranges from paintings to musical instruments, coins, books, antiquities, it is lavishly decorated with marble and stucco ornamentations therefore the museum itself is a piece of art.

On our previous visit to Vienna, my wife and I ran out of time and did not visit the Kunsthisorisches Museum. On this return visit, we definitely intended to go primarily to see the Bruegel paintings. The entire museum is worth visiting, but we were especially fascinated by the Bruegel paintings. Wonderful!

This is an amazing museum with everything from the Habsburg's private collection, to a suberb exhibit on ancient Rome and Egypt, and great art. You'll want to spend a full morning or afternoon there! If you're going, consider joining one of the tours - the museum can tell you what times they run. A great experience.
