What a great find this place was! Its location is ideal, just a block away from the Staatsoper, right in the heart of it all. When we arrived, we could hear the music from the Opera house live simulcast playing! Our room was all the way at the top, and had a lovely wraparound terrace with chairs and a table. The room itself was decorated in bohemian kitsch... some may like, some may not, but it was always a lovely and quiet retreat from the hustle/bustle of downtown Vienna.

The employees of this pension were always very friendly and accomodating with any requests. When we checked in, we were given a tour of the pension and our room, and offered advice and feedback on where we could park our car and grab a good quick meal. The hotel offers an onstreet parking pass for under 5 euros, and parking on the street right in front of the hotel was easy.

The breakfast was a nice bonus, with a great selection of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, and cereals, as well as hard boiled eggs. We didn't drink any coffee while we were there, but the tea was good. Definitely a great way to get started on the day.

The only problem we had was that the "free hi speed internet connection" did not work on the eighth floor, and we couldn't even get it to work downstairs. Fortunately, the hotel does have two computers in the office with connections, and they were making these systems available to the guests.

If you are looking for a truly elegant, high end boutique hotel, the Pension Suzanne is just not for you. If, however, you want a GREAT place to stay, with really friendly and helpful staff, fun guests, and all for a fantastic price, you are going to love this place!! I can't recommend it strongly enough!

With a group of eleven freinds and opera enthusiasts I spent a week in June 2009 at the Pension Suzanne almost next door to the Staatsoper in Vienna. This was the group's second visit to the Suzanne. The Pension is family run and also has a most welcoming staff. The rooms are large and airy with good high ceilings. They are also very quiet. Some of the bathrooms have been refurbished since our visit last year and are now more spacious. Some of the rooms are also apartment-style with small but well equipped kitchenettes attached. Prices remain reasonable and the location - whether or not one is attending the opera or the Musikverein or the Konzerthaus, all of which are within walking distance - is right in the heart of Vienna. Good restaurants abound and from the ladies of my party I understand shopping nearly is excellent. The Graben is also within easy walking distance. But what makes the Suzanme for me is really its welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who are also very helpful with tour suggestions and information on city travel etc. There is also a good breakfast with a range of cereals, meats, cheeses and eggs. Strongly recommended especially if one is attending the Staatsoper virtually next door!!

This pension is right in the heart of Vienna - close to the opera and walking distance to EVERYTHING. You couldn't ask for a better location. The pension's rooms are located within an apartment building - not complaining as our room on the eighth floor had a separate kitchen. The bathroom was medium sized and a good sized bedroom/living area. Free wi-fi too. The apartment had a huge balcony (two sides) so we did hand washing and hung the washing out on the balcony to dry. Beds were comfortable too. It is old but everything functioned perfectly and was clean. Breakfasts were huge too. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Will stay there again if we return to Vienna.

This charming, well-priced place is the cleanest hotel I have stayed in anywhere in the world! The room was an adequate size, the furniture was like you would have seen if you were a guest in a private home. The bathroom was huge and modern. Perfect location, too. Michael and staff are so nice and helpful. When he shows you to your room ask how to operate the windows. I thought I knew how to open them but all through Austria and Germany they have this style window that open two completely different ways, so ask how to do it if this is your first stop. Breakfast was lovely, and my coffee came via a friendly, charming staff member after I had chosen the items from the buffet. That was a nice touch. The staff is loyal and long-term. It was my first visit to Vienna, my first stop in Europe, and I was a woman traveling alone. I absolutely loved this place and would go back.

I chose Pension Suzanne for our three day visit to Vienna on the basis of the reviews I read here, and was so pleased with that choice! The location is unbeatable: a half-block from the Opera, a quick walk to the tourist information center and to all the sights of the heart of the city. Our room was very large, comfortable, and sparking clean. The light and spacious breakfast room was the setting for a very generous expanded continental breakfast. Complimentary internet access is available. Several good restaurants are nearby; street parking was easy. But the icing on the cake is the staff. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful.

Pension Suzanne is not going to impress anyone looking for 5 star luxury but for a budget traveller it ticks all the boxes.

The hotel is a converted apartment block with each apartment converted into three or four separate en-suite bedrooms; this novel idea works very well.

The bedrooms, whilst not huge, are still quite spacious. The décor is somewhat old-fashioned but the en-suite bathrooms are very modern, each with their own dedicated hot water supply guaranteeing unlimited hot water on demand. Everything is very clean indeed.

Although on a street near the city centre with a theatre behind, the hotel has excellent double glazing which cuts out all external noise.

This is not a hotel with extensive facilities but they do have a pc with fast Internet and this is free for guests to use. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (excellent restaurant recommendations) and breakfasts are excellent.

The location could not be better: just a stone’s throw from the opera house and the famous (and much more expensive) Sacher Hotel, and at one end of Kärntner Straße, Vienna’s main shopping street.

Thoroughly recommended.

This would have to be one of the best places to stay in Vienna for the price you pay. You will find it very difficult to locate another pension/guest house that has such a prime location for the price you have to pay. Just read the other reviews - they all say the same thing - this place is IDEALLY located for all your touristy needs. It's right in the middle of Vienna with most attractions within a 20 minute walk (or you can travel on the excellent trams). Despite it's location I never had any issues with external noise. You'd never know you were in the centre of Vienna. I can't speak for all the rooms but the one I had was huge. It had a king size bed, but still had enough space for couch, table and two chairs plus a side table. I did see one of the other rooms and although it wasn't as big it was still ample. Very clean, decorated in the way you'd expect from a hotel in Vienna, the room was an absolute steal for the price paid. A typical continental style breakfast is served in the morning, and the staff are very helpful whenever they're needed. I'm not going to wax lyrical about Vienna (you kow why you should go) but I would say the Christmas markets are worth a visit if you're going that time of year (December).
