“Comfortable, Luxurious, Centrally located”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2011

We stayed at the Grand Hotel during our last visit in Vienna (March 2011). I think it is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed.
With the exception of the fact that my suitcase was transferred by mistake to another room, I can not find any other negative point in our stay.
The staff was polite and willing to serve. Indeed one of the employees was even speeking Greek!
The hotel is decorated in the old style, exudes luxury and comfort, both internally and externally.
The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated - like visiting a palace, as my wife stated; the bed is big with comfortable mattress and pillows. Of course there is free internet. Unfortunately there was no available room overlooking the road.
The breakfast included everything one could ask for and in very good quality.
Furthermore the hotel is in a fantastic location on the Ring Strasse, from where we had access to almost everywhere on foot.
The cost is reasonable for the services offered, but at the time of our visit, due to the annual radiology congress, all rooms (and hotels) were full, so the prices had risen a bit. We were asked for an additional payment of 180 Euros, in order to keep our room for a few extra hours, on the day of our departure.

Dear 'Diggeo', thank you so much for your wonderful review, it is indeed a pleasure to read that besides the fact that your suitcase was transferred to another room there was no other negative point as to your stay. That is what we intend to achieve, besides the fact that we would like to have our guests 'feel at home' and also explore the beautiful city of Vienna. Thank you for describing your room and our service and facilities that well, it is also much appreciated. Looking forward welcoming you back at the Grand Hotel Wien in the very near future, best regards!

We stayed overall at The Grand Hotel for 10 days, five days longer than intended due to the theft of my briefcase on the train from Budapest to Vienna.

The hotel is what you expect from a 5-star hotel. Luxurious rooms, well trained and dedicated staff, splendid location. We had rooms om the 6th floor, large, well appointed, and decorated in a traditional way with the benefit of o a large terrace. Flowers in the room, welcome note from manager and fruit basket with the famous cake. Nice touches.

When I needed a fax in my room I it was immediately installed. Inspite of the traumatic experience of the the theft, I was made very welcome and helped every step of the way by the staff at the front desk and the concierge. We will certainly return.

Room Tip: ask for a 6th floor room with terrace

This is truly a great city hotel worthy of 5 stars. Everything about it is very luxurious from the roof top terrace restaurant to each of the well appointed and spacious rooms. We had one on the fourth floor overlooking the beautiful tree lined and rather busy street in front of the hotel. Expecting noise to creep in, the double set of windows (to keep the winter cold out!), electrically operated shutters and curtains it was absolutely quiet and dark, which is very important for us to have a proper nights rest. The bathroom was ultra spacious and very functional for two people.

Vienna building architecture and this hotel made us feel we were back in Paris, but without all the 'pulse', related noises and Parisian prices. The Grand Hotel Wien is also perfectly situated to walk to most all the great shopping, opera house, many restaurants, some of the major museums and other important sites. We loved it and would go back in a minute.

Room Tip: Suggest a 3 day package and the upgrade to a Jr. Suite. 600 sq. ft of luxury!

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Wien for a week in February 2011. The hotel is in a good location along the ring and within walking distance to the main shops. You can also enter a large mall through the back doors to the hotel. The room was comfortable and furnished in traditional style with a lovely chandelier and red curtains. The bar and the cafe were quite nice. Our bartender was excellent and the food at the cafe served traditional Viennese cuisine. However, the coffee we ordered for breakfast was terrible. We ordered it two mornings and then reverted to going across the way to the illy coffee shop. The doorman (only when we asked even though he saw us come out and stand at the entrance) called us a taxi but did not ask where we were going / did not translate our destination and did not verify that the taxi did not have a meter. It was a fine place to stay but the few service issues prevents it from being a truly 5 star hotel.

Dear 'honeydewchase', thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that in some service issues we were not able to satisfy you, for which I truly apologize. I will certainly look into these issues, in fact I can tell you that we did change our coffeemachine at the main restaurant just a few days ago as we saw an increase in complaints here. Thank you for describing the hotel, your room and the location so well, that is much appreciated, and I am looking forward welcoming you again, showing you that we are truly a 5 star hotel. Best regards!

Classic hotel with central location. Old style charm and decor. Excellent location, near Metro, easy walk to St Stephens and Spanish Riding School. Expensive but worth it.

We were there on my anniversary, my husband and I loved it sooo much. Lots of amenities, good city hotel, very good staff and so many things to do in central Wien. Close to quite everything, from Opera to Sacher Conditorei, good connections nearby. Rated OK

We spent 3 nights at the Grand Wien. We got a large room - king size bed with a sitting area. The lady at the front called after we checked into our room. She wanted to make sure we were happy with the room. That was a nice touch.

The hotel itself has the old European charm - big with great details.

But, the real asset of this hotel is its location. It is in the center of town. From the hotel, you can almost walk to everywhere.

Overall, we were happy with our choice of the Grand Hotel Wien.
