“Nice hotel in a central location. Very expensive though! Be warned!”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

The grand hotel is grand and well maintained. I cannot fault the rooms, and infact the breakfast is superb. I would give it a 5 star rating however the prices we very high for not only the rooms, but for any extras, which gave me a bit of surprise as I got the bill!

Dear 'Franktravelstheworld', thank you for your review, good to hear that you liked your room and the overall quality of the hotel. I do apologize that we gave you the feeling of being expensive, but for your understanding, in general all prices are according to the overall competition we have in Vienna and also according to international standards. Nevertheless I am looking forward welcoming you again at the Grand Hotel Wien. Best regards!

We stayed in Grand hotel Wien from Jan 9 thru 12, 2012.
We found this hotel merely flawless.
Rooms - tastely decorated in 'fin de ciecle" style, antiqued furniture, bathroom of solid red and green marble, golden handles. Very clean and new (hotel has been recently refurbished.)
Public areas - superb. From main lobby with grand, massive chandelieurs to Cavalierbar, when I indulged myself by smoking a cigar. In lobby piano is played every night.
Service - very decent, promp and efficient, turndown service every night. Our room was made up diligently every day
Location - all major sights of Central Wien are easily accessible.
We rarely do this, but this is the case when we can truly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to feel good old Wienese hospitality at its best.

We spent one wonderful night at this hotel.Beeing LHW members, they upgraded our room to a junior which was big and beautiful. They even gave us complimentary continental breakfast and sent Kugelhopf(a traditional austrian cake) and fruits in the room.
The only "problem" was that we were all waiting to feel an aristocratic air instead of so loud voices and unpolite people on breakfast or in the lobby where a pianist was singing so nice!
So, zdrasvuite!

Room Tip: Take a junior

Dear 'DoctorDermatology', thank you for your kind comments with regards to your stay at the Grand Hotel Wien. Happy to read that you liked our Junior Suite. With regards to your experience at the lobby cafe, you must know that guests from Russia do love the Grand Hotel Wien, hence we see an enormous increase in bookings from this country. This of course sometimes causes language problems, which we internally try to manage by employing staff that speak Russian, although that is not so easy. But, as I speak for myself, a guest who stays at the Grand Hotel Wien is always king, regardless of language, cultural, rate or overall behaviour issues. Looking forward welcoming you again at the Grand Hotel Wien in the near future, best regards!

We stayed three nights at this grand hotel, it was decorated for Christmas and was breathtaking. Arriving 3 hours before check in we were surprised to find our room ready with an upgrade to a much larger room and a view of the Karntner Ring - there was even a yummy Kugelhopf and fruit waiting for us!! The room was warm even with the thermostat at its lowest so we slept with the windows open a bit and didn't hear any street noise. We had room service one late night for dinner and it was amazing, we felt like royalty - and its very reasonably priced. We also had room service for breakfast and it was just perfect. The king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge and beautiful - the same type of marble that is used in many European hotels. The front desk staff was helpful with directions and recommendations for restaurants. We found the servers at breakfast to be efficient but not friendly.

Beautiful and stately hotel. Everything about it was elegant and top notch. Having just come from Budapest and staying at the Grisham Palace Four Seasons, which was elegant but extremely overpriced, we weren't sure what to expect in Vienna. This hotel was worth every dollar. We didn't have a suite here, but we did have a deluxe room which was beautifully decorated with an Old World feel. Everything about the room was great, including the free wi-fi. and the nightly turn down. The location was perfect. We could walk to many places. This was our first time in Vienna and 2 nights were not nearly enough. Hope to go back next June and will definitely stay at The Grand Hotel Wien again.

The thing I loved most about this hotel was the pianist in the lobby. He played so beautifully, he kept me awake for hours sipping on my tea and enjoying his music! I would return for this alone but the rooms need to be updated first. Otherwise the hotel has potential of being Grand.

Really nice place to stay, duluxe rooms are very comfortable and in a great location. Only a couple of gripes (1) Air condition not that quick to control the temperuree in the room, and (2) no kettle in the room. with coffees at €6 each, the costs soon mount up, (3) breakfast not worth €40 ppn.

Luxury room though with loads of space and great bathroom
