“Character with comfort & service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2013

Myself & my wife stayed at Hotel Sacher at Vienna from July 4 to 7. We believe this hotel is one of the best in town if you want character & history. Apart from this, the service is friendly & professional. From location point of view, it is the best if you want restaurants, shops and concert halls. Of course, their torte is very famous. Their restaurants serve excellent food and if you want a good 'schnitzel', this is where you should come!
The decor of this hotel goes back over a hundred year but continuous refurbishing gives you all the comforts of a new five star hotel, WiFi is free! Buffet breakfast is sumptuous, especially the choice of tea!
If we return to Vienna, we will stay in Hotel Sacher again.

Sacher torte will never the seem the same when it is on your breakfast buffet, Take all you'd like, but maybe you want to save some room for Gugelhopf, or strudel The Sacher's breakfast buffet is perhaps the best of its kind, with perfect croissants kept in a warming oven, fantastic breads, gourmet restaurant level cheeses, cold meats (try the truffled ham), smoked fish, yogurts, fruits pastries, and all you can drink prosecco. A chef will make egg dishes to order, and pair them with frikandelle, leberkase, or one of several kinds of sausage. The eggs were gorgeous with bright yellow-orange yolks suggesting good things in their feed.
Booking through FHR/PTS brought us an upgrade to the Masepa suite, which consisted of an anteroom with walk-in closet and a small buffet with minibar, together with a large bedroom with two exposures over the pedestrian street. Triple pane windows kept out the noise. Everything in the room was top quality, from the Mulderhof duvets to the safe, which had a built in power port for recharging your laptop and was easily three times the thickness of the typical in-room safe.
Our large bath had a deep tub, a stall shower with rain shower head, and a glass enclosed toilet. No bidet though. Amenities were custom to the Sacher and chocolate scented. Bath robes and comfy slippers complete the ensemble. The Sacher does offer XXL bathrobes if you overindulge on pastry,
Check in was pleasant and friendly and check out even more so. (More torte) No surprises on the bill and as promised, the hotel charged a minimal amount (about 10 cents per minute) for calls to the US, which was good since my French SIM card was not permitting international calls from Vienna.
The concierges are quick to make a last minute restaurant reservation.
The location could not be better. Steps from the opera, U-Bahn, Albertina, many restaurants. Close by the Hofburg, and near the other music venues. As it is at the end of the pedestrian walk, cab access if fine. Our rate included an airport transfer in a nice S class Benz.
About the only criticism is the hotel did not replace the bottled water after the first day. There were water bottles in the minibar, but no price list, so we bought our own water at a nearby Billa and asked for ice. I was also misinformed that the Blue Bar permitted cigar smoking-it is only allowed in the Gallery, less atmospheric but covered with photos of celebrities. The bartender provided an elegant Sacher cigar ashtray- I wish they were for sale.
While staying here you will feel like a celebrity. Highly recommended. I hope I make it back.

Room Tip: I can't imagine they have a bad room. We certainly enjoyed our small suite -I can't imagine...

What an amazing experence I had at this hotel ,If you want to stay at the best hotel in Vienna think of none other than Sacher Wien.
you know you have arrived as you face the hotel it is palatial like With its white edifice.
I stayed in a Junior suite on the 7th Floor with its own balcony/terrace.
The bathroom and shower facilities were spot on.

The hotel is decked with so muich history how it has been in the same family for few 100 years now and it is still mainained. It is a hotel that knows what it is to be Hospitable.
Check in receptionist and even the waitors and waitress are so polite and courteaous and resprtesent the hotel in perfection .
The breakfast was splendin and plentyful in its choice.

The place has a allure of charm.
If you want to stay in a charming hotel. .

its is perfect for families and couples and business men .
The lcoation is perrfec rightnext to the Albertina Museaum very central and next to the Shoppin street .

Room Tip: if you want the best suite have the one on the corner on the 7th Floor overlooking Albertina

"But of course" was the typical response to any of our requests. Great service! The hotel is perfectly located for walking tours of the city. We were on the third floor and had a large balcony over looking the Albertina. For our style of traveling, this was perfect. Picture relaxing with a bottle of wine and enjoying the view of the city. The room was beautifully and classically decorated. We loved every detail down the the paintings on the walls. We were traveling with family and the Hotel put us in the Leonard Bernstein suite that is actually three separate rooms/suites with a common foyer. This proved a perfect arrangement for our family. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast and a dinner in the Rote Bar. Again... the service was fantastic during our dining. Vienna was a great city to visit. We had originally planned a day trip to Budapest, but we were enjoying Vienna so much that we decided to save Budapest for future travels to dedicate more time to Vienna on this visit. Classic hotel, wonderful staff, beautiful city. Lots of photographs in the Austria album at www.markwweston.com

The staff at the Sacher help distinguish it from many luxury hotels we have visited. The door and bell staff were superb, taking control of our bags and car and whisking us to reception effortlessly and cheerfully. The front desk staff efficiently checked us in and oriented us to the hotel on the way to our room. The room was large and well appointed. The bell staff quickly showed up with our bags and showed us how to "operate" our room and gave us tips on things to do and places to eat. The concierge staff have been helpful every day with tips on touring, dining, shopping, and essentials. Dinner at the Rote Bar was excellent, great service, a seat facing the street, excellent service, food, and Austrian wine. This place is a classic. Expensive, but the staff and service make it worth it.

Beautiful hotel but what made the stay was the amazing attention from the staff - all of them! They were so kind and went out of their way to make sure we were cared for...I travel a lot and this was the best of the best in service. Peter the city tour guide is Amazing!! Ask him to take you on a tour of the Wachau Valley...
