Very lovely hotel!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Aug 2019
We had a lovely few days at this hotel for my grans 80th birthday, and we all had a great time. The food was exceptionally good quality and offered a wide variety of options. The rooms were immaculately clean and tidy, and very spacious with lovely views and a beautiful bathroom. The staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel is positioned in a great place, right opposite the opera house. All round an amazing and luxurious hotel, would recommend to anyone!

One of the nicest most luxurious hotels in the world, opposite the opera house in Vienna. Great ambience, history, food and service. They serve Sachertort for breakfast ad well as all the usual food. Original paintings in all the rooms. This is where Carol Reed, film director, stayed with Graham Greene andvcreated The Third Man. Years ago I had a great lunch with that film's assistant director, Guy Hamilton. Highly recommended. Spoil yourself!

We visited Vienna to celebrate our 25th Anniversary & wanted to stay in the best hotel in Vienna. The hotel is beautiful, very elegant! We were upgraded to a suite which had everything you needed. The Air Con was great as we stayed during a heat wave. The hotel staff simply can’t do enough for you. The breakfast are divine & the waiting staff are excellent. A special mention to Mark for making our stay extra special. Can’t wait to return in the winter.

This was my first stay in any hotel this opulent so I was blown away by the decor, the liveried staff of smart-looking Austrians and the fine finishes and furnishings throughout the hotel. It's location is very convenient, within walking distance of many of the sights I wanted to visit, has a lovely spa with a salt fog sauna, and one with herbal infusions that I had never seen before.
I had a massage there as well that was very nice and just the thing to recover from all the walking, stair climbing and nature hikes that's I'd done.
What was also nice is that being a hotel guest gets you into the restaurants without having to wait in line!
There's some debate about whether the restaurants, hotel and its famous Sacher Torte live up to the hype. I can't speak to that but can tell you that they're all very, very nice, and the torte especially chocolaty and magnificent.

We stayed at the Sacher on the front & back ends of our visit to Europe. Our first night we were exhausted and stayed in a very quiet, pretty double room. Our last 2 nights we were upgraded (perhaps due to the platinum Am Ex card) to the Arabella suite which was fantastic. The rooms are luxurious but the suite is a wow with several chandeliers, a fireplace, a tv that rises from the fireplace, a large sitting area, lots of windows and natural light, a gorgeous large bathroom and so on. Not only are the rooms nice but the staff at the hotel are very nice and go out of their way to accommodate you. Especially impressive was the buffet breakfast. Definitely get a rate which includes the breakfast. We have eaten at buffets at Four Seasons, Ritz Carltons, etc. but the Sacher Vienna blew them all away - from the fresh-squeezed juice station, marinated salads, fish, bread choices, dessert table, to an unreal cheese trolley with a honeycomb nearby. In addition, you can order any coffees or other egg dishes, etc. from a menu. Everyone from the host to the waiters & waitresses was super professional and helpful. Another perk is as a guest you are ushered in, rather than waiting in line, to eat at the Cafe Sacher. The location is central and right on the pedestrian street. Yes, The Sacher may cost more than many hotels in Vienna but we would never stay anywhere else. We loved this property!

Room tip: I don't like elevators so we were given a quiet room on the first floor which is actually 1 flight up.

I am really very impressed with this hotel, stay in one of their signature suites for 5 nights which was newly renovated. I love the fire place which makes the suite so cosy . It is at a great location just opposite the Opera and in the middle of all the shopping.

What makes this such a great hotel? The staff of course, excellent service all round. Always willing to help in any request. Special mention for Vera from front office, who went the extra mile to get the best room to suit my request.
The man at the door who is so welcoming, Mislimi. And Edward at the concierge too.

If you like a place in Vienna that makes you feels special, this is the place to stay. Will be back.
