“Neat Hotel in downtown Vienna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2012

I had it booked from colleagues living in Vienna.
Quality/Price ratio is very good for an hotel almost in downtown.
The rooms are not very big, but confortable, and clean.
TV set quite small. Free wifi. Nice shower.
Receptionist kind welcoming.

I had a 5 day stay here. Excellent location. Coach 3 to the city from the airport drops you off at Moritzplatz/Schwedenplatz which is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Very convenient. The breakfast included in the room rate is good and staff very helpful.
One thing to note is that all rooms have twin beds and not double beds. There is a small gap when they're pushed together.
Overall great hotel for a city break.

This hotel was recommended by a friend. I travelled with my wife and daughter. It was a great find!! Room was nice size with large, great bathroom. Located right in the middle of the old city with easy access to great shopping, restaurants, museums, opera. Staff was extremely helpful. We took day trips to Bratislava and Budapest and staff helped us to arrange these trips. Overall a great stay and a "hidden gem". Highly recommended and will visit again when I return.

What more could you ask for from a centrally located hotel. Great breakfast offering cold meats, cheeses and bread. Perfect continental brekkie. Our room was cosy, comfortable and cleaned to a high standard every day. What makes this hotel even better is its location. Only 100m from St Stephans Cathedral and seconds away from all the shops, bars and restaurants. Staff very friendly and informative.

  • Liked — Superb location
  • Disliked — Some of the keys on the keyboard of the internet machine didn't work! Is that really a gripe???

This hotel is very centrally located and has a boutique style feel, breakfast is good. However, on the day we arrived, we put our laundry in and the receptionist circled the 'express' box whithout informing up that that cost double the amount. Our clothes did not come back in good condition. They had shrunk and we felt they had been tumble dried. We also found the washing powder to be a skin irritant. When we informed management, they refused to take responsibilty. The air conditioning was poor and there were roadworks outside which woke us up at 6am. We also had to ask for toilet paper and for our rooms to be cleaned.

AM1010, General Manager at Hotel Amadeus, responded to this review, 24 October 2008
Dear irishgirl85, and other readers,
be assured that the Hotel Amadeus staff has done its upmost best to comfort all needs and desires. A statement for further explaination needs to be done: the Amadeus laundry is done by a outsourced company - which washes, delivers and charges on it´s own - the hotel does not benefit from any money charged for laundry services - it is not in the Hotels interest at all to have guests pay to much, as there is no profit at all! Explainations for all laundry charges have been given, and in order to compensate for the guests unpleasant experience due to a misunderstanding the Hotels Management was willing to reduce the room rate. Guests have saved EUR 150,- at the hotels invoice. The Hotels General Manager herselfe took action to solve problems and comfort the guests - taking the time needed to solve all problems at the day of check out. In addition to that a written apology followed.

Once again - the Amadeus took actions to solve quality problems with the laundry services (although there have never been complains like this bevore), and payed the maximum possible attention to the guests complaint.

Please note that at the time of check out the problem was confirmed as solved. Guests saved a lot of money, have been comforted, received an apology and have been farewelled in the politest possible manner.

We loved the Amadeus! It is a small hotel - so has no bar - but is so close to St Stephans Platz and loads of great bars this is not a problem. The staff are all friendly and the rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great although if you are looking for cooked food then a boiled egg is as far as they stretch, but delicious breads, meats, smoked salmon etc. Vienna is fab for New Year and the Amadeus is just round the corner from Hoher Markt where there were some great bands playing.

  • Liked — Small and intimate, but smart and a great location, near to attractions, but quiet.
  • Disliked — The rooms were quite warm , but you just had to open a window!

5 mature couples for a long weekend in Vienna. Very central position and close to the cathedral. Everything within walking distance, but a very quiet road. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, knowledgable and professional and spoke excellent english. The rooms were clean and comfortable, continental breakfast fine and numerous restaurants around the corner
