“lacks spirit”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

In a city that appears to the visitor as being more focused on its past than on its presence, I had thought that a new hotel without constant Mozart muzac would be a welcome breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, I found this hotel disappointing.
Opened just two years ago this hotel is very modern and has been consistently designed from public spaces to guest rooms in gold shades, apparently playing on the theme of the local Secession style from a century ago. However, this modern design does not in any way feel comfortable and but rather cold and anonymous. E.g. public spaces and guest rooms basically lack prints, paintings or other decorations. Don't get me wrong, the facilities are of good quality and the rooms offer a lot of space. Staff was friendly, the free WLAN works very well and the restaurant had good food. The only objective criticisms would be (accordingly to two different fellow guests) that rooms facing direction Schönbrunn palace also face the rail tracks, and those generated disturbing noise during the night. It is just that I never felt comfortable there due to a lack of spirit.

Room Tip: If those other travellers were right, avoid rooms facing the railroad tracks if you wish to have a q...

This is primarily a business hotel that hosts an endless procession of conferences. As others have noted it is a fair way out of the city centre but ideally located if all you want to see is the Schonbrunn Palace (the Gloriette is visible from the 3rd floor and above). Vienna has excellent, safe and cheap public transport but it is a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro station or a 30 minute drive to the city centre by cab.
The hotel itself is modern, tastefully decorated with spacious suites incorporating expansive bathrooms with his and hers basins and a walk through shower - very nicely done.
The bar and restaurant are likewise very tastefully finished. I found the staff to be very helpful and efficient although some of my colleagues observed that they were inflexible when it came to late check out rules.
But, and I know it might sound petty, I can not fathom why there is no kettle in the room. The hotel staff know it is a frequent complaint but management have done nothing about it. Ordering room service for a luke warm cup of coffee (and paying for it) is no substitue to the convenience of brewing your own.
Otherwise excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the palace and preferably on floor 3 or above.

I was in Vienna for business and stayed for three nights from 6th to 9th of June. The location is very good next to the palace and textile museum. The rooms are spacious and clean. On the whole I liked to stay in the hotel but they have to improve their WIFI. I have not experienced such a terrible connection in all of my travelling all around Europe. The dryer in the room was as lousy as the wifi. If they can improve these two then I can recommend for a business stay at this hotel.

My wife & I stayed at the Trend Hotel Park Royal outside Vienna at the end of May as part of a group holiday. The hotel was great. Rooms, breakfast, bar all fantastic. It was also within walking distance of Schönbrunn Palace ( 10 mins walk ) which is well worth the visit.
The main issue was the access to Vienna city centre which took 2 tram stops + 7 metro stops. We did this a number of times and while it was straightforward enough it was still an inconvenience. From hotel door to city centre it took about between 30 - 45 minutes all going well with connections. If this is not a concern then all is well. In fact the tram ride can be enjoyable ( 5 mins ) & the metro ride is safe and fast & above ground ( with no long escalator journeys ).

Room Tip: room was great.

This is a nice hotel close to schonbrun palace. Helpful staff who went the extra mile to get me free parking. Rooms are comfortable and bathroom is very nice. Location is so-so because subway station was a bit further than I thought. One thing is inexcusable though; no Internet in my room. Apparently it was a building defect.

First of all the most unfriendly front office personnel I have ever witnessed. We asked one of the to deliver us a baby cot but never ever delivered not even mentioned the next morning. The hotel located nearby Schoenbrunn if you are to visit. Its just 10 minutes walk from thehotel. The breakfast is illogically expensive at 19.00 Euro each. I think its a rip off. The buffet is extremely full of everything but you dont need that much to start a day, do you? I would suggest all to go to caffee houses located within Schoenbrunn Palace. The one which is closer to the entrance offer big and small size breakfast which is more than enough. We did bu 1 small and 1 big breakfast big one. The big one costs 12.oo euros and small one around 7.00 euros.I promise you that you will enjoy there more than Park Hotel Royal. If you want to experience beautiful Viennese sweets especially Apfel strudel, go for it and try notto forget to order coffee that goes extremely well with strudel.

This is a true 4 star hotel, good size rooms, I stayed at an executive suite, so mini bar and executive lounge access were free. The people in the front desk are average, some are great and some were ok. The price was ok, but more expensive than a family oriented hotel. They have good exercise room, sauna ( hot and humid). Food was above average ( I only eat buffet and breakfast).
