We stayed here 11 years ago and were happy to do so again. Its main advantage is its location, on a quiet pedestrianised street just off the main shopping area and close to both the underground and tram, although most of the main attractions are within easy walking distance. The staff, with one exception, were extremely helpful, and also efficient - eg, a loose electric socket, when reported, was mended immediately. Both our room and the bathroom were a good size and well-appointed. The breakfasts with plenty of variety were well presented on individual tiered stands, but we would really have preferred to make our own choices of cheeses and meats etc and also not to have to pre-order the previous evening. The male evening receptionist appeared disinterested in the guests, even when I cut and bruised a finger on the entrance door. A minor quibble was the placing of the room safe over the minibar fridge which meant that anything in the safe became really hot. More seriously, we had booked online a room with a shower cubicle, as opposed to a shower over a bath, as, with knee problems, it is for one of us difficult and dangerous to climb into a bath. However our room had only the bath with shower over and when we asked at reception to change rooms, the same disinterested receptionist told us that the hotel had no bathrooms with shower cubicles, not even for the disabled. Had we known this we would probably have booked elsewhere and, at the very least, Best Western and / or the hotel should have informed us when we made the booking, as we had made plain the reason for our request.

We have stayed at this hotel every January for the last six years and it's never disappointed. The staff are very friendly and know us by name. The breakfast is outstanding, the best hotel breakfast we've ever had. And just when you think it couldn't get any better, it did. They changed the format this year and you pre-order your choice the night before. You can customize it as you like and they will bring it to your room or you can have it in the dining room. We recommend the suite as the standard rooms, like in many European hotels are on the small side. From the Versace tiles in the bathroom to the chandeliers in the guest rooms, you are made to feel a part of the hotel's royal heritage without the stuffiness. The hotel is located near the Opera and off the Karntnerstrasse - a great central location.

Historical hotel in the pedestrian district in old Vienna, near the Opera House. Easy walk to transportation, dining, shopping and more! Wanting a larger room I booked a junior suite, not much more expensive than a double room and well worth it. Beautifully furnished and lots of room for 2 people to move around, plus desk area, couch and more. I was in #15, a non smoking room. Beautifully restored and tastefully furnished with chandeliers, moulding and elegant touches yet cozy and warm. Included breakfast is FANTASTIC and all staff were super friendly and helpful. This is where you want to stay in Vienna!!!!

We returned from a weekend in Vienna (Austria) .. After several trips, trying several hotels, and during our walks, we found this one, determined for our next trip to go down.
Typical Viennese hotel very well situated in a street lined with restaurants, accessing the main pedestrian street. What happiness, reception, cleanliness, friendliness, breakfast room or in the dining room, excellent. Without problems you can discover Vienna's city center, the opera, the cathedral, we would definitely return Simply PERFECT

We've stayed at this wonderful hotel a while ago. Myself and my fiancee like the hotel very much. Proximity to city center and closeness to metro is big plus. The bed was confortable , the bathroom was good, and overall the room was stylish. The breakfast was a nice buffet, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

This was our second stay and we were not disappointed. The position is perfect, being in easy walking distance of the Opera House, the Metro, shops, restaurants and the Stephansdom.
The breakfast format has been slightly changed in that guests are asked to state their breakfast preference in advance and then are served individual tiered platters.
A perfect place to stay in baroque splendour.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms overlooking Annagasse

Great value: A splendid old building, good rooms, convenient location, friendly staff and a great breakfast. My wife and I stayed for three nights. It was an easy walk to the main concert halls and most tourist sights.
