We stayed here for 3 nights in September. The location is perfect. Right in the centre of the old district opposite the Opera House. The room was spacious and clean and great value for money. We stayed on the fourth floor which over looked the main street. You cannot here traffic when window is closed. There was no aircon but I new this at time of booking. There was a fan in the room which was fine. One of the highlights of the hotel is the staff and their excellent customer service. A special mention about Harold, the manager. He has an amazing personality and was so interesting to speak with. He could not do enough for you. He is the real jewel in the crown. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

I stayed here with my mum a few weeks ago for our 4 day girls weekend in Wien. I cannot fault this little place, directly opposite the Opera House, minutes walk to the main pedestrian only shopping area. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was spotless! I think we got an upgrade which was fabulous, massive room with a balcony overlooking the Opera in one direction and Hofburg in the other. We'd booked a deal through a website some months earlier paying roughly EU300 each for 3 nights accommodation and breakfast, such good value. The breakfast was everything you need in the morning, not flash but nice fresh breads, a little fruit, cheeses/cold meats/jams/juice/cereal/coffee/tea. Everywhere you look in this hotel there's character, its been updated and modernised but the lovely featured ceilings and stairwell have been left. Just gorgeous!

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel. It is located within blocks of the Hofburg, and across the street from the Opera. The location was important as my husband recently had hip surgery, so long walks were out of the question. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. The front desk folks were very helpful, and the gummy bear bowl was a nice touch. They even booked our train tickets using their own Amex Card when the site would not accept mine. We went to the Mozart/Strauss concert at the local palace, a purely tourist event that we enjoyed nonetheless. 10 euros to taxi to the rail station, and we were off. We were not in love with Vienna, (is that allowed?), but found this to be a great hotel for our stay.

Arriving very early in the morning following 15 hours of flights I found the Desk Staff expecting me and my room prepared. The Desk Manager advised that breakfast would shortly be ready to serve and provided me with a map of the historic area and instructions on how to find sites of interest (and my way back to the hotel). My room was just lovely, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with a coffee machine and friendly staff to serve. The helpful Staff of Hotel Am Opernring made my first trip to Vienna an absolute pleasure and I hope to get the opportunity to stay there again. Many thanks to the welcoming and hospitable Hotel Staff.

Absolutely loved this hotel which is housed in a former noble family's home. It gives you an idea of how rich Viennese lived in the old days....

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Reception was nice with an never ending bowl of gummy bears. There are three marble steps that ascend from the reception to the elevator and stairs. The one elevator is typically European and small, installed in the central air column in the staircase well. The stairs were well kept and decorated with posters of operas past.

The rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable. Huge high ceilings, nice windows and fabulous water pressure. The bathtub/shower combo was a bit higher than the bathroom floor making it a bit difficult for the elderly to climb in and out. There was some traffic noise if you opened the windows but you're in a big city after all. There was a fan in the room but we didn't need it. The old construction was sufficiently well-insulated to keep a constant comfortable room temp.

The room came with a complimentary bottle of Romerquelle sparkling water and two yummy Sacher chocolates. Mini bar was stocked. And a hot water maker was also present in the room with coffee and teas.

The included breakfast buffet was fantastic. It had a great variety of breads and pastries, cold meats and cheeses, cake, bacon, sausages, scrambled and boiled eggs, fruit and salad, two coffee machines, juices, gourmet teas, spring and sparkling water and champagne to make your own mimosas!

The hotel is kitty corner to the Opera and a block from a main tourist shopping street Karntnerstrasse. The Hop-On and Off yellow buses hub on the other side of the Opera making it very easy to go on a tour and rest, then go again. It was also an easy walk to the Museum Quarter and Stefansplatz.

The hotel seems to be connected to the restaurant downstairs which is a chic open room place with a raging fireplace (even while we were there in July). It was crowded on their front patio on a Thursday night with so-hip-it-hurts locals out for a drink. There are also a couple of restaurants a block down past Le Meridien- an Italian place (pizza looked good), a local diner with Viennese specials and the new Burg Ring with very nice homemade juice spritzes that were very refreshing.

Special commendation for the wonderful hotel manager Harald whom with his wealth of knowledge and perfect customer service who went out of his way to explain things and make our stay comfortable and pleasant. He also recommended great activities like the Twin Liner day cruise to Bratislava among other things to do in the area.

Hotel doesn't change money- but banks are close by, closing at 3pm on weekdays.

This was a very good and clean hotel; the reception was excellent, the room was of a great size, and the breakfast was good. The location couldn't be any better, right in front of the opera house. Unfortunately, we were visiting at the time of a heat wave and the only problem was that there was no air conditioning at this hotel.
I will consider going back to this hotel in my next visit, but I will do that in either Autumn, or Spring!

Room Tip: They have a great restaurant next door.

My wife and I were staying in the hotel Am Opernring from June 6 to June 16 2013 and we were very happy with our choice.
Location of the hotel is ideal – it locates across Vienna Opera House and Burggarten, one of the most popular places of the city, but at the same time it felt very quiet and peaceful.
Hotel didn’t look modern and it was not supposed to. You have a feeling like you are a Vienna resident, which is true, because some floors of this building are apartments.
What makes this hotel very attractive is the staff – very helpful and exceptionally friendly. I would like to mention Herr Herald Shubert – his desire to make your stay as pleasurable as possible really makes the face of the hotel.
He helped us with tickets to Salzburg and booked them for us, which saved us at least 100 euro. He found for us small venue where our favorite composer Mahler was performed – we would not be able to find it. He discussed with us different composers and operas and you may trust his opinion. His referrals to restaurants and bakeries allowed us to enjoy real Viennese cuisine and famous deserts.
If we visit Vienna again we definitely will stay in the same Am Operning Hotel.
