One of my most memorable experiences in Vienna. Make sure to revisit the movie before visiting the museum. An extensive collection that has been very well curated.

The museum is only open on Saturday but is well worth the visit. It is displayed in a way to also give you a great history lesson of Vienna. There are examples of advertising about the movies, letters written during era, lots of pictures and artifacts. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there. The directions give the subway stop Kettenbruckengasse to get off on which we did, but if you are in the Naschmarkt, you can go deep into the market and you are right across the street from the museum.

Again what can I say? I love this city, and this movie epitomises everything I learnt as a child. Just to hear that zither music takes me back. thanks Orsen wherever you are.

If you are a fan of the film or if you are interested in the history of Vienna in the first half of the 20th century this is a must see. The museum is only open on Saturday from 2 to 6pm so plan your visit carefully. If you haven't seen the film, do so before you go,otherwise the film background documents and photos will mean very little. It is a quirky museum filled with every detail the enthusiastic curator could find - and I do mean every detail! The room dedicated to the history of Vienna's role in the Second World War is a real eye-opener. Allow at least 2 hours.
