Reasonably central.
On a side street so quite quiet.
Adjoining main street has supermarkets and other shops.
The (olde worlde) building has a charming wooden lift/elevator with a sofa at the back.

-
The building is tired/worn and has seen better days.
My room's door lock had been disabled from the inside by having had a nail hammered into it. Reception told me that all the hotel's room door locks were like that to stop people from locking themselves out!
Insufficient cupboard space.
Use of the hotel's computer for connection to the internet cost €1 for 15 mins and €2 for 30 mins. There is, allegedly, wifi/WLAN but other guests at the hotel were not able to log-on to it

Room Tip: Ask for a room far from the noisy wood-paneled lift (there are 2 lifts in the building)

Stayed 4 nights at the end of September. Front staff was friendly and helpful. Check in was a breeze. We were in the 3rd floor, basic size room, no aircon and tiny bathroom . The room had two doors to enter (I guess that was how it was build at that time). Their elevator is old but picturesque :) and can only accommodate two people at a time (if both have big bags, then only one person) Breakfast was sufficient with good choices. Rooms are clean except for the carpet which is a bit worn out and with stains. At the time of our stay, they were doing a repair on the street so you can hear the trucks and people working. Our room was facing the street and with no aircon, our windows were open.
Location is central, the metro station is around the corner a couple of blocks from the hotel and tram stop is in front on the main street. There are restaurants and bars around and two mini marts in front of each other in the corner of the same street a couple of minutes away.
Rathaus, Burgtheater and Hofburg Imperial palace are walking distance.

I wouldn't give this hotel more then 2**. We had a very small room with the tiniest bathroom I've ever had. The equipment is really basic, as well as the breakfast, you pay for the Internet and for the parking space, which is so little, you can hardly get in.
Good point - central location.

Well-situated, nice and friendly hotel. We had a room (12) on the streetfloor, facing to a quiet street. The room was equipped with a double (twin) bed, and an extra bed, and was at least 40 square meter big - very comfortable.
We very much enjoyed the old, huge walls, and overall the historical atmosphere of the house.
Breakfast is fair, coffee is excellent.
Parking garage has only four, narrow places, for 15 EUR/night.
Staff is really friendly, willing to help.
The only bad thing was, that the internet was not working in our room, it was some technical problem, so we received back our money. (Otherwise, I think internet should be for free, it is incredible to pay 5 EUR for a 8 hours access.)
We had a very good time, we enjoyed our stay.

Very good and nice hotel near from historical center(~ 20 min not hard walking). Good breakfast, good service friendly personal, I was here in 2008 year in march, and stay in this hotel for 3 days. I think it's very good hotel for tourism or shopping or traveling. Near from hotel place tube station and tram stop, already near from hotel you can arrive to City town hall

The Graf Stadion has the size and feel of a family-run hotel, which I imagine it once was (I've no idea how it's managed or owned now.) It's had grander days and I imagine the streets around it have changed somewhat since it was built in the late 19th century. It's well-located near the Rathaus and hence the museums, parliament building, etc and with tram 2 and U2 being only 1 or 2 minutes walk away. The side street it is in is relatively quiet, but at present (September 2010) there's major building works taking place at the end of it which means quite a bit of noise at street level from 7am or earlier with trucks and materials moving in and out. It looks as though this work is near completion, and I think it is only likely to be really noticeable for the 2 front-facing ground floor rooms (12 and 13.)

The rooms vary, but are typically spacious for a hotel of this age. The beds are quite small, though, and the room I stayed in (12) has three single beds and a shower but no bath. Breakfast is a typical continental buffet - better than many I've seen but not extravagant. Tasty bread, great coffee and very fast service.

Reception isn't open all day - if you arrive very early or late you'll find a note on the door and your key waiting for you at a hotel down the road. There's no bar, but apparently you can get a drink from reception when it is open (0700-2230) although I've no idea what the range is. There's internet, but it's not included and is fairly basic, although fast when I used it. You buy access in 1 or 6 hour slots from reception (1 euro = 1hr, 5euro = 6 hours) which gets you a piece of paper with a password to use when you want. So, no internet for late arrivals until reception opens again in the morning.

The bathroom provisions are basic but adequate, and my room had some armchairs as well as an upright chair for the desk. It was good value compared to many others nearby, but somewhat spartan.

This is a nice old hotel close to the Rathaus where the Christmas Market takes place. We chose a superior room and there was plenty of space for a family with a child. The old elevator still functions! The only problem was that we had to cross 3-4 doors with door-steps while getting to our room.
