Pros:really clean rooms, new towels everyday, nice and friendly stuff, nice and well decorated area once you enter the hotel, beautiful garden Cons:Tiny rooms (like a ship cabin),at least 20 minutes walking distance (not even 10 mins using the metro),really hot room. In general this hotel provides the basics in reasonable prices but sure there are better choices even closer to the city center. EXcept for the Prater there is nothing else to see in this area.

Last week I had to stay in Vienna for one night. My research on hotel offers wasn't very detailed - Kunsthof hotel was the first one with appropriate price and good location, so I decided to take it. There was kind of Winter promo - rooms were much cheaper than usually.
Front desk staff was nice and helpful. My room was tiny, but bed was exceptionally comfortable and bathroom was also very nice. I cannot assess the quality of the food - breakfast was pretty expensive, so I decided to eat in the city center.
I am not sure if I would be satisfied with the longer stay as well, but for this one night it was an excellent choice.

Hotel Kunsthof is situated in a rather ugly part of Vienna, but has the advantage of being only a few hundred meters away from the public transport hub Praterstern. Gathering from the name of this hotel (“art court” in English) that this is a design hotel would be mistaken. In fact, this is a fairly old hotel, formerly called Reichshof. It offers a wide variety of rooms whose sizes and prices differ. I had booked an X-SMALL room, which turned out not to be smaller than a typical single room.

Knowing that the street noise at night can be a nuisance in Vienna, I was willing to pay 10 euros extra per night for a so-called upgrade to an “inside room”. In this way I was really spared the street noise. However, this provided no protection against noise originating from the adjacent rooms and from the corridor, since sound insulation in this hotel is very poor, at least in the rear part where my room was situated.

My room was far from stylish. The quality of the basic furniture was not bad, but an arm-chair and a wardrobe of unsuitable colors and some accessories of the cheapest kind gave the room a somewhat run-down appearance. Particularly unappealing in this respect was the bathroom, which was in need of renovation. I encountered some minor nuisances there such as a largely clogged shower head. Furthermore, in my opinion the light in the bathroom was far too weak and I also missed a reading light at the desk. The mattress seemed to be fairly old and was not in a good condition.

I found the breakfast alright because the breakfast buffet, though not particularly comprehensive, contained all the basics one may usually expect and it was not overpriced. The friendly hotel staff gave no reason for complaint.

Despite this not very enthusiastic review I consider an overall classification by three stars justified given that Hotel Kunsthof is quite moderately priced by Viennese standards.

Room Tip: The upgrade to an “inside room” is money well spent, but try to get a room in the main building rath...

This was a fine 3 star which has clearly had the touch of someone who cares about offering a beautiful and art-filled experience. There is fascinating and quirky art around every corner. The front desk staff was always smiling and helpful and competent, speaking very good English. The
simple breakfast was at a good price -- but no eggs, basically nothing hot to eat. The room was thoughtfully furnished with an artistic flair and the bathroom OK, except no shower stall -- so I stood in the tub and showered as I have a million times in Europe never liking it and reliably getting the floor wet. The upstairs is functional but very plain.

There is a very interesting courtyard -- the walls (about 4-5 stories each) are covered with big-leafed ivy making the whole space very cozy. Ask for an interior room overlooking the courtyard.

The neighborhood is blah and around the corner from a brothel. The street is not noisy by Vienna standards but there is trafffic noise. The location is fine, about a ten minute taxi ride from the Center, and a ten minute walk to the subway.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the interior, overlooking the courtyard.

This hotel is a bit of a distance away from the town center but easily accessible by the metro which is only a very short walk from the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are spotless and if you request in inside room overlooking the interior courtyard, very quiet. The only problem was sound of the slamming doors late at night, the hotel should seek a way to quiet the sound of the closing doors.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room overlooking the courtyard.

I stayed one night at Hotel Kunsthof. It is located near the Prater (ferris wheel) and is a couple of blocks from a major train station and subway station. At the train station you can take a direct trip to and from the airport using the S7 train for about 4 euro. I picked this hotel due to the train and having reasonably priced single rooms. My room was small (they warned that it was a small single room), but clean and modern. It was comfortable, quiet, and had CNN on a flat screen TV. My friend had a larger single room that faced a nice courtyard, but he said his room was not as modern as my room. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was at least a 30 minute walk to the old part of Vienna, but it was safe and we could have taken the nearby subway instead. This hotel was a what I expected and worked well for our short trip to Vienna.

I stayed in this hotel for 7 nights!! It was a very great hotel, really quiet and so confortable!! This hotel is just 2 min from the tube station Praterstern and there is a lot of restaurants around. There is a direct line to go to Stephenplatz (historical center of Vienna)...
