The location makes this hotel an excellent choice. The hotel is located right in the city center, only a few meters away from the St. Stephen's Catherdal, the main shopping street, and the nearest subway station. Be aware which room you are booking. Some rooms have windows that open to only a ventilation shaft; no chance of a view on anything. Staff at the reception desk is very accommodating and helpful.

The hotel and staff could not be faulted from the reception, breakfast room and housekeeping.
Stayed in a superior room which was very big and airy. Bathroom had bath, separate shower, double sink, bidet and WC. Wardrobes in the vestibule and in the bedroom itself had large beds, flat screen tv with some English channels, kettle and tea and coffee facilities. Also they arrange pick up and return to the airport for a very reasonable price. Wonderful, no having to find taxis and struggle with wheelchair and luggage.
The location is unbeatable close to all the shops, St. Stephens Cathedral, museums and parks. The hotel has a lift so no problem for disabled visitors plus all the adjacent sight seeing is on the flat (pushing wheelchairs easy)
.
We will definitely stay there again the next time we visit Vienna and would not hesitate to recommend everybody to choose this hotel.

This place is perfect! Right in the middle of the city, close to every great places, theatres, museums, restaurants, shops.... The hotel is very beautiful, very classic and classy. I have a very good price on the net for a huge room with a king size bed, huge bathroom with shower and bath, very comfy and quiet. The service was perfect from arriving to check out. Good breakfast in a very nice dining room. We really feel the Viennese spirit in this place! I will go back there without a doubt!

Just a couple of blocks on a quiet street near St. Stephens you really can't beat the location. It was so easy to pop in and out during the day, that it was easy to maintain the energy level needed to take as much in as possible. The room was typical, but very clean and comfortable. Only challenge for us was the weakest breakfast selection among all the other places we stayed.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your kind valuation. We are happy that you have enjoyed your stay with us. In order to find out further details, it would help us to obtain more information, as maybe you were missing something on our breakfast buffet.
I may give a small sample of our varied breakfast buffet:
We offer a wide selection of hot and cold dishes: a wide variety of sausage ham and cheese, egg dishes, vegetable stir-fry, homemade fresh fruit salad, every day different jams, fruit juices, lots of different breads and pastries, homemade cakes as the famous "Gugelhupf" and "Kaiserschmarrn" ... and much more.

We are looking forward to further feedback and beg to remain with kind regards from Vienna

The hotel organised concert tickets for us and didn't charge for the service and also organised a car to collect us from the airport at a very reasonable charge. The location is just perfect, 20 yards of the main shopping street and everything in Vienna is within easy walking distance. There is good choice of restaurants at all prices and styles within a short walk and also a lovely food hall should you just want a sandwich or snack. The hotel was very clean, our room was large and well appointed, comfortable chairs and bed. The large bathroom had recently been re-fitted. It looked into an inner quadrangle which was a bit of a shame, but you are right in the centre, and you quickly get used to it. The breakfast is extensive and the breakfast room large and light. The food is continuously replaced and refreshed by attentive staff. On the last morning we looked at the food under the silver domes and found the most super Austrian egg/cake dish, served warm - wish we had found it on the first morning. Would love to stay here again.

I have a theory. I think that every hotel, even the finest, has some crap rooms. Whether they look out on the dumpsters in the alley, are the size of a linen closet, or some drunk threw up in them in the past (and that smell does NOT come out, trust me), every hotel seems to have one or two of these rooms. If you use a booking site and think you are getting an absurdly good deal on a pricey place to stay, I can guarantee that one of these undesirable rooms is what you are going to get.

That is how I explain the Kaiserin Elizabeth's generally high ratings against my experience of the broom closet in which I stayed (Room 307, in case you're curious). The room was very narrow indeed, with one window looking out on the interior courtyard where staff go to smoke, and the other offering a fine view of industrial kitchen equipment (I think). The oddly gigantic bathroom was half the size of the whole room, and had an enormous shower, one of those excellent ones with all of the water jets at different heights. I was set to enjoy this as an adequate consolation for my microroom... except it didn't work. Only the usual handheld shower head did, much to my disappointment. It's possible (though unlikely -- I do have some years of successful showering experience) that I just didn't know how to make it work; I didn't bother calling the desk to ask. I just assumed it was another routine indignity of getting the worst room in the house.

Now, all of that said, I will also tell you that this is a very nice hotel, and you could hardly find a more central location. It is less than a two minute walk from the Stephansplatz u-bahn stop, and all the activity that surrounds it. The common areas are beautiful, with a refined and elegant air. Though I did not interact much with staff, they seemed quite courteous and helpful (someone did let me come in through the kitchen door, when I failed to find the real hotel entrance... two steps further up the street). And even my tiny room had all the amenities of larger ones (save the shower), including a wonderful, extremely comfortable bed.

I was only at the hotel for a night, at a steeply discounted price. And while my experience wasn't the greatest, I do think this place is probably a very nice place to stay. Just make sure you are not relegated to room 307 when you are checking in!

Room Tip: You don't want to be in room 307.

great location,a few steps from Stephan"s Platz and Kaertner Str., welcoming staff, a lovely single executive room, with all the "old style" and modern amenities, lots of light(rare in hotel rooms), parquet floors , bed to have good dreams in, versatile breakfast , bread and pastries hard to choose from, an expresso or capuccino coffee. prices of room service better than coffee or sandwiches in the city, smoking lounge (for "sinners")metro just outside and connects to S-bahn to the airport in 30 min.
thank you , Tripadvisor, for your recommendation
