“Very good hotel”
Reviewed 14 October 2012

Hotel Prinz Eugen is a very good hotel. Nice rooms, but the aircondition didn´t work. Very good doors to the balcony that closed out the noice from the street and the construction work place across the street. Good breakfast. Nice and helpful staff. Close to Schloss Belvedere and the subway. I can highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights in July-12, hotel staff were very helpful, across the hotel by walking distance you can catch tram , there is construction going on for railway station.
Breakfast was good, those who traveling by car , normally get the paid parking behind the hotel you can park in front of the hotel for few minutes till you can unload the bags , also you can purchase the parking ticket from the reception it is 4 euro for 2 hrs.

Behind the hotel there is church, supermarket chain (Billa) which is walking distance.
Again walking distance to Bevelerde palace only 7 minutes.

Over all good choice.

Room Tip: If you want nice view ask for 6th or 7th floor & rear view.

I stayed at the Prinz Eugen hotel for 3 nights in July - A single room.

The room was quite big, the bed is comfortable and the shower is great.
The view from the room is not so beautiful - Across the street is a constractor area but there is no noise when closing the window of the balcony.

The breakfest was more than i expected - A big variety of cheese, Ham, Serials, Eggs etc. I enjoyed it very much.

The stuff of the hotel are very nicee, especially Stefan and Rohan(Or Rogan) - They smile all the time and helps with all your request.
One evning i wanted to go to a nice restuarant and Stefan took me to an Italian resturant across the street - He actually went with me to the place and told the waiter to take care of me - Very nice.

The WI FI in the hotel is good - But only at the Lobby (Free of course).

The location of the hotel is a little bit far from the center (Takes about 15 minutes from exit the hotel till you get to the center)

In summary - Had a very nice vacation

Room Tip: Rooms not to the street

Right opposite the Sudbahnhof railway station, so easy to locate. From Wien westbahnhof station take tram 18, or take metro to Karlplatz and then change metro to Sudbahnhof. Breakfast was really good, though it was exactly the same on all 4 days - variety of cold cuts, breads/jams/butter/spread, fresh yoghurt, fresh fruits, types of cornflakes with dried fruit, tea/coffee/juice. Very comfortable & spacious room and bed. Bathroom was ok but bathtub was small and difficult to get into/out - you end up splashing water all over the floor. TV had some english channels too. Helpful staff. A little away from the city centre (Karlplatz/Stephanplatz), but if you take a tram/bus/metro, you reach city centre in 10 minutes. For a double bed, we got 2 twins pushed together, but it was ok. Wi-fi was free only for 1 hour. They should provide for 2-3 hours atleast.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your positive feedback on Tripadvisor.
The team and I myself highly appreciate to hear that you had a pleasant stay and enjoyed your room, as well as the breakfast.
WiFi is available in the lounge area for free, and of course, unlimited.
However, you are right that access card time allotment comes in 30 minutes batches and might be inconvenient at certain times. We will definitely make an effort to better explain this to our guests in the future.
Please do not hesitate to contact me personally before your next stay at the Prinz Eugen in order to provide a room with a large bathroom and bathtub.

With best regards
Mariella Thomas, General Manager and team

I've stayed at the Prinz Eugen a couple of times, and booked four nights to enjoy Wien again. The hotel is located across the (heavily frequented) road from the new main station buliding site. While the construction means that the surroundings are not very exciting and there aren't really any shops or kiosks nearby, the hotel is easy to find and readily accessible by tram (D, O, 18) and metro (U1) as well as night buses, and the distance from the city centre is about 10 minutes.

I arrived early, between 11 and 12, and after a bit of searching to find my reservation (hotels.com) I was immediately given a room - a great service given such an early arrival! The staff was pleasant and welcoming, and maps and information about Wien was provided without asking. A positive note is that the hotel, in line with the city itself, seems quite traditional and has something Austrian-historic about it.

The room was a double, quite comfortable and had a view towards the centre, away from the construction site and main road. During previous visits the excellent sound-proof windows have made staying on this side comfortable as well. The storage space was adequate, and the room was of an acceptable size, providing excellent air conditioning. The only slight bother was the shower, which - as in all hotels I've visited owned by Austrian hotels - had only a small glass wall to protect the rest of the bathroom from becoming an ocean, which meant you had to spend a couple of minutes afterwards wiping it all up.

The breakfast is served until 10:30 and provides the basics with quality. For a four-star hotel I think the choice could have been more plentiful, though.

In all, I'd be happy to return again. The completion of the new main station on the hotel's doorstep could change conditions dramatically in a couple of years, but regardless of this the Prinz Eugen is a welcoming hotel in an interesting and historic city.
