“Much better than it looks from the outside!”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

The entrance to the hotel looks like an underground parking lot. Do not let this put you off! Turn left halfway up the stairs and step into another world. Reception is warmly helpful, the rooms are spacious and clean, the staff always pleasant. Breakfast is good although the room is a bit small.Get in about 8.45 for a gap in the crowd - at least it worked for us. The location is excellent, close to the Museum Quarter and many excellent eating places. We felt we had good value and would go back. However do not rely too much on early morning calls. Ours came 15 minutes late as a knock on the door!

Hotel Savoy in Vienna was nice. The front desk staff and breakfast staff were outstanding, very friendly and service oriented. The rooms were always clean and neat, but the maids forgot to lock our room door twice. The location was incredible! Just a block from the commercial street and a couple of blocks from the museums. The only issue with the hotel is that the breakfast room was tiny and we had to wait to get a table.

Room Tip: Our room faced the road, but since it had double pane windows you couldn't really hear the cars.

Savoy Hotel was booked for me as part of a package for a recent visit to Vienna. While there were other options for more upscale properties,I chose Savoy to keep the price within my budget. I was not at all disappointed. The location suited me just fine.It is about a fifteen minute walk to the State Opera House and Museum Quarter along the Ring, where many of the historic attractions are located I was in Vienna to explore the city,so I had planned on doing a considerable amount of walking. There is also an Underground station for the orange line just a few minutes away.Mariahilfer Strasse, a main shopping street is one block away.
The room I stayed in was on the fourth floor. It was very spacious for a single traveler. There were two twin beds which, when apart were rather narrow, so I just pushed them together so that I could stretch out The beds were nice and firm and very comfortable to me.The bathroom had a bath/shower and a fair amount of counter space. The toilet was separated from the bath and sink part of the bathroom,so I had to actually go into another room to wash after using the toilet.
The hotel is located on a narrow street lined with buildings several stories tall,so it can be fairly loud if the window is open. With the window closed the noise level is quite low.
The hotel has no restaurant but does offer a complimentary breakfast. The selection consists of some cold meats and cheeses, fruit, yogert, breads and eggs along with some hot items that vary from day to day. The breakfast room has limited seating and can be quite crowded. There are a number of restaurants in the surrounding area to choose from.
The staff treated me very well. They were helpful with giving me information about the immediate area and the city in general. They also assisted in booking tours and assisted with getting concert tickets.A very nice group of people.
I would definitely consider staying at Savoy again if I do get back to Vienna

First time to Vienna and this hotel certainly added to the pleasure of my stay. It is well located, next to a major shopping boulevard, and ten minutes' walk into town. My room was spacious and tastefully furnished, with separate walk -in luggage space.. Bed a bit hard for me though. Free wi Fi . Front desk pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend.

I chose this hotel from a a short list of several options nearest to my final destination, based on tripadvisor positive reviews. However it didn't work out for me...

This is one of many hotels in Vienna co-located with residential building. Therefore there is limited space for important things: breakfast room too small, so if you don't show up first there be ready to wait to eat.. (I never had similar experience in any hotel...), lift, corridors... Hotel itself is very old and need renovation asap. So, not retro style (as provided on pictures), but everything is really old. except bathrooms that are renovated, but I can't put this as a plus, as this is minimum that you would expect from hotel... Worst are carpets full of stains that really make room look very bad - at least room that I got... However, in total, room seems to be clean. Beds are small, but quite comfortable. The only positive thing is heating that was available in the afternoon and early morning, and very helpful in chilly early fall.

Location very good (e.g. for Mariahilf), staff ok, breakfast basic.

Next time there: NO.

value for money: wouldn't say so.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 7 years ago and were delighted to return again. It is lovely and clean. The room and bathroom were both spacious. My husband found the mattress was too firm, but I was comfortable. We had free wifi, tv, and safe in room. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is in a lovely room. It's a little bit crowded when it's full, but it was very pleasant. Breakfast was lovely. Boiled eggs, fresh fruit, juice, a variety of breads (including different grains), cheeses, meats, yoghurts and cereals, tea/coffee, etc. The location was great. We walked everywhere including the old university district and the medieval core. It was a pleasure to return to this hotel again.
