“Small but efficient”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

This is a small hotel in the city central. With in walking distance to major attractions, metro lines, and restaurants. Rooms are adequate with plenty of space. They do not have air conditioner but furnish a floor fan that helps. Breakfast is furnished on site. Staff very helpful, friendly and speak English. They went out of their way to make arrangements for your needs or plans.

Room Tip: Rooms on front hear some street noise

We stayed here as part of a Rick Steves tour. The location is good, it is just off of a main shopping street, but not in the walking zone. It is a decent walk to get to the central walking zone, or 3 stops on the subway to get to the heart of downtown. There is a subway stop very close by (about 1 block away). It was very hot when we were there and some people in our group did not appreciate the lack of a/c. There was a fan in the closet that was helpful. The rooms are a little bigger than most and are a little dated. Breakfast room is small and fairly typical for European hotels. Overall a decent place.

We had an early morning flight after our stay and the hotel staff went out of their way to open up the breakfast area early for us and get us coffee and food. The room itself was a little tight be nice. The location was very good, an easy walk to sights and very good food.

The Savoy Hotel was a delightful surprise. The bathroom was excellent and appeared to have been recently renovated. The toilet was in a separate room to the bath/shower and there was the added bonus of a large, walk-in storage/wardroom. The main room was large enough and having a balcony helped open it up. Breakfast was excellent, with an wide range of choices available. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was within easy walking distance of many of the sights and the excellent tramway system. It was a most enjoyable stay.

We stayed here on a group tour., even though the tour book does not list the property (a well-located secret?). The property is conveniently located just a 12 to 15 minute walk (walking along MariaHilferStrasse, walking with the shopping locals) from the center of The City, and a simple "metro" ride to the center (3 stops) from this property, just cross the street to the "mall" and down to the underground. The hotel is also convenient (2 block walk) to some wonderful restaurants. Sadly, the front-desk staff is not very friendly (several shifts, several contacts) as we needed to print boarding passes to save $ 400 ( thank you RyanAir ) and got shuffled from shift to shift . . . prepare yourself for a smelly toilet room (ONLY the toilet in a small "closet" type space).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms in the front of the hotel (on Lindengasse) as these tend to be very noisy. Suggest you...

Stayed here 1 week in June 2014. The location is perfect, very close to the main shopping street where you can walk, do shopping, eat, etc. Also it's close to the Museum Quarter and Hofburg palace (appr. 10 mins away).
The staff was extremely polite and helpful, they even have ahead-prepared small maps in different languages: how to find a supermarket, how to go to the closest metro station. It's very pleasant and helpful.
The hotel itself is very small. The rooms are tidy and cleaned well every day, but as for me the interiors should be renewed as soon as possible. Yes, it's said 'old Vienna style" but you can see that it's not only old style furniture, it's really old furniture indeed. Wallpapers, carpets, curtains - all are old. The bathroom was good, big enough and very clean. The isolation is poor but it's always like this in small city hotels, here I don't have any right to complain.
Special attention to breakfasts: it's was almost awful :( Very very small place where you always touch somebody who already sits while passing by or vice-versa. The management of the hotel should think on dining room extension, it's really not enough and small. The food was same every day: cottage cheese, various breads, one type of cheese, one-two types of bacon, boiled eggs, corn flakes (which I can't stand at all), two types of fruit yogurt, butter and jams. That's all! No fried warm eggs, no omelette, porridge or something warm. The coffee was always cold instead of being hot. My conclusion: they need to improve breakfasts starting from the place and finishing with variety of dishes.
For the money I paid for this hotel I think I could have had a better one. So paid for 'Savoy's' name.

The Savoy is located just off a busy shopping street, near the museum district. The entrance is a little odd, it looks like an underground carpark, but once inside the reception is welcoming and manned by efficient and friendly staff. I really enjoyed my stay in the Savoy, my room on the fith floor was well maintained, the mirrored bathroom ceiling was certainly unusual (!), the bed comfy although the pillows were small. The street the hotel is on is quiet so no problems being woken up by traffic. The breakfast room is very small, and it is best to either get there first thing or wait till later as you might have to wait around a bit. The breakfast is a simple buffet, but pleasant enough and was included in the overall affordable price. The staff were helpful, providing maps, they had sweets and apples on reception to take and overall it has a friendly feel to it. I would recommend the Savoy as a good place to stay in Vienna , close to the action, affordable and very pleasant!
