while visiting the well time worth HAUS DER MUSIK we noticed the rather new restaurant at the rooftop
nice view, interesting building -monument protected -and a unconventional restaurant
the menu offers Austrian specialties in good quality
a reasonable choice if you are near the place

We're not talking of a great Konditorei or a fancy restaurant (even the prices can't be labeled as budget), but there's a reasonably good menu to give you a decent comfort after all the fun the Haus will offer you.
We hasd dinner there, and we've ordered for starters, a young herring salad with buttered potatoes and a carinthian cheese ravioli with brown butter, which were incredibly good and freshly prepared. Then, we've tried the cream of chestnut soup with smoked duck breast, a little bit tasteless but still a hearty meal for those who are used to this dish, and my wife chose a viennese onion roast “Zwiebelrostbraten” (sorry, guys, it's hard to translate this) with fried potatoes and mustard pickle - tasty, very well prepared, but a little heartless, maybe because of the powerful pickle...
For dessert, a wonderful Tartlets with Powidl in buttered breadcrumbs with stewed plums fro both of us and the incredibly always fantastic Vienese espresso.
Not paricularly pricy, but don't expect a 30€ meal. If you do, better look outside.
If you're not looking for a great gourmet experience, but an honest well prepared Vienese meal, try this one. It's a bull's eye!

We had one dinner in this restaurant - too bad we didn't have more...
My dish - "Viennese onion roast “Zwiebelrostbraten” with fried potatoes and mustard pickle" - was just amazing. Really, really good. My partner ordered "Original Wiener Schnitzel of veal", with cranberries, it was not as good as my dish, however it was still pretty good. For desserts we took one apple strudel and one "Tartlets with Powidl in buttered breadcrumbs with stewed plums", both were excellent.

We actually found this one by accident. Roof top view of the Stephansdom with delicious Viennese cuisine. Ground floor atrium has a piano for anyone to play. Lovely to sit and listen for a bit keeping in mind some pianists are better than others.

Waiter was very pushy to sell prosecco and wine, The famous burger tasted like baby food. They did not even ask if we like well done or medium or rare, but with this "substance" what should be the meat, it doesnt matter. We orderd 2 burgers and both were served toally cold. cold bun, cold meat. Every 1 Euro McDonalds Burger tastes better. We paid for 3 persons 100 Euro and this without any wine. As I said: expensive and very bad.
