During our three nights, the hotel met or exceeded all our expectations. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. In particular, the front desk was helped with many questions. The included breakfast has a large number of selections, all delicious and fresh. The location is very convenient, particularly after you learn the wonderful system of public transportation. We appreciate their green environment and will definitely plan to stay there when we visit Vienna.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with windows to the road--we had a couple of evenings when people and traffic woke us...

September 22, 2013. One night while in transit from Budapest to Munich. Very pleasant surprise: Klara, the receptionist, was very helpful and offered dinning suggestions. The best one was the Pescaria Konoba located at the end of the next block in the direction of the train station. Strongly recommend this restaurant. Hotel is located five to six blocks from the train station which makes it convenient for arrivals and departures and the walk is very easy, even while towing luggage. However, upon arrival we discovered that being so close to the train station made for a very expensive taxi ride to the hotel as the driver had to leave the station area, deal with one way streets and finally arrive at the hotel. We found the hotel room and bathroom of higher standards than usual European hotels offer. We recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel during a week-long trip to Vienna, and the whole experience was fabulous. We loved the fact that the hotel was truly "green" - such a rare find within the hospitality industry. What's even more impressive is that this does not come at the expense of comfort. Our room was comfortable and silent (we couldn't hear anything from either neighbors or the street), and the entire hotel was extremely clean. The breakfast was wonderful, including the coffee, and it's served during a pretty long time period each morning. It was easy to walk to three different metro stops as well as a couple tram stops from the hotel, and its location a few blocks from the train station meant that day trips to other cities were a breeze. The entire staff of the hotel was friendly and helpful - they gave us restaurant recommendations, helped us figure out the public transit situation, and kept our leftovers in their refrigerator for us. On top of all of this, the room was extremely affordable. I highly, highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay there again should I ever go back to Vienna.

What caught my eye when searching for lodging in Vienna was Stadthalle's price discount for people arriving by either train or bike; This suited us well as Vienna was the terminus of our independent cycle trip along the Danube. The discount nearly covered the entire price difference between a Superior Rm. and a Jr. Suite. We took the jr. suite on an upper floor with balcony for 3 nights. Relatively spacious , quiet (it faced the hotel's inner garden area) and comfortable (both bed and bath).

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very helpful front desk , all fluent in English. The hotel is 4 short blocks from the nearest subway, and therefore no more than a 15 minute ride to the Inner Ring. Breakfast had some service glitches; not as attentive as they might have been even though it was buffet.

But on the whole I strongly recommend Stadthalle for your stay in Vienna, biking or not.

This hotel takes pride in its environmentally friendly approach. They are attempting to run a hotel on a net zero energy balance basis. They've used many tools to try to get there. LED lighting everywhere. A room uses only 14 watts when you enter and fire up the lighting. They do water heating with passive solar collectors and energy generation with photo-voltaic solar cells. They give a 10% discount if you arrive by train or bike. And on and on.

The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful with good recommendations about how to get into the city. This is important since the hotel is west of the city and outside the tourist sites in the city.

The room was comfortable for the weather we had during the first part of October. It was very comfortable and well appointed. The room and the rest of the hotel had a very high level of aesthetic design. The hotel was at the top end of our travel budget, and we had a very pleasant stay.

The breakfast offerings were extensive, fresh, and delicious.

Room Tip: The inside rooms that overlook the courtyard are very pleasant.

We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Stadthalle in Vienna. The staff was great, really helpful and service minded. Having a glass of wine in the nice garden in the evening was a real treat. Our room was, however, quite warm, as we visited in a heat wave. The atmosphere was nice and the breakfast as well. The location was ok, but not overly exiting – in a residential street close to Westbahnhof.

With the environmental profile of the hotel – which we like – we would have liked more organic options in the semi-organic breakfast buffet (particularly some organic cut meat) and of course organic wine in the hotel bar.

Otherwise, a good place with a good price to explore the amazing city of Vienna from!

The hotel is to the west of the historic centre of Vienna. It is comfortable, efficient and clean. Our room was large, well appointed and furnished and overlooked the garden in the hotel courtyard. The Bed was comfortable but there was only a shower in the bathroom nor was there a refrigerator (part of the hotel's eco policy). However, drinks can be obtained from the receptionist. The staff are friendly, helpful and all spoke English. The breakfast is very good. The hotel is very close to trams which take 10 minutes into the city. The Westbanhoff is a 10 minute walk and has trains to a wide range of international destinations as well as a large modern bright shopping mall. Be aware there is a seedy red light district up the hill from the station. There is also a super market opposite the hotel. There are 2 good restaurants within 10 minutes walking, We found the Stadthalle to be an excellent base from which to explore Vienna.
