“Good starting point for seeing the real Vienna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

Most of the staff here were ver friendly and also very accommodating when you had a request. Each time, it was no trouble at all. Ok the hotel is slightly basic, but it is functional and when you go on holiday, you spend most of the time out anyway. The use of the 6 bikes was a bonus, most of the other guests ignored them, but myself and my two daughters found they were ideal for exploring nearby Prater Park. Our room was located on the main street so traffic was a bit noisy, but so tired from the days activities, you just fell asleep anyway. As regards cleanliness and hygiene, no problems, fresh towels every day and the room was perfectly cleaned every day. Large choice for breakfast with a mixture of everything, could not fault it. One of the other comments said there was no air conditioning which is true, butt hey Hotel provided us with a large fan which was fine for our needs as we were out most of the day. If we go to Vienna again, definately will go there as it seems to be central to all the transport hubs to get around the place.

Very enjoyable hotel to stay in Vienna; good lacation by the Prater park ( very busy on saturday nights until the early hours ) with excellent tarnsport links to city & airport. Plenty of restaurants/bars within walking distance for all budgets. Very friendly staff who give good advice.
Rooms have all the facilities you need and the hotel provides free bikes to hire if needed.
Would be better if they opened the restaurant/bar for the evenings as there is a nice courtyard to pass away the evening.

I stayed at this hotel with my family for the weekend thinking we were going to stay at a decent place. Wow, were we wrong! First of all, the hotel looks like a dump from the outside. Talk about first impressions... The lobby was relatively well kept, but its just a facade to hide how poor this hotel actually is. The hallways were absolutely horrendous; it looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in decades. Now the room was probably the ONLY average feature of this hotel -- the rest is honestly terrible. The room was a little dusty and was acceptable, but the bathroom was disgusting. The wood underneath the sink was rotting with mildew and the drapes were stained with some sort of yellow substance. Even worse, the employees had a terrible attitude and their faces gave me the impression that they didn't want to be there. Oh, and make sure that you don't come in the summer months cause the advertised air conditioning is non existent!

Room Tip: If the room they give you isn't to your expectations, pester the receptionist to give you a bett...

We had a large "penthouse" room with a balcony and a view of the Prater Wheel. I think it was the only room with a balcony. This hotel is a couple miles away from the major attractions, but they have free bikes that you can use. It is close to the Danube Canal, which is great for walking or biking. The free breakfasts featured a lot of choices, including eggs and bacon.

The only thing i can complain about this place is the fact that our room didn't have AC and had to leave the window open. We were on the main street side. As traffic started to build in the morning it got loud, couldn't sleep past that. Breakfast was good. We found the hotel staff to be nice and helpful. We did book this room last minute (3hours before arriving at hotel). It was the best deal we could find at the time. Subway its near by.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for two nights as part of a business trip. We were given a smoking room, and after a short time in our room, realised that we would not be able to spend the night there due to the thick smell of smoke having permeated every part of the room. We requested a room change, but were denied. Forced to stay in the room, we tried opening the window to let some fresh air in. However, the latch on the window was broken, and the entire pane of glass almost fell onto us as we tried to open it. As a result, we could not allow any fresh air into the smoke-filled room.

The room itself was dusty and dirty, with stains throughout, and many of the features in addition to the window were also broken (lightswitches, lamps, etc).

Our room was on the bottom floor, with a large window that looked directly out to the courtyard. As a result, there were people walking past and looking directly into our room. We had little privacy, you could hear people walking through the courtyard throughout the night.

We dealt with two different staff members during our stay, both of whom were rude and unpleasant.

In short, the worst hotel experience of my life. Avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far more affordable, friendly, and comfortable accommodation options in Vienna.

Room Tip: Avoid smoking rooms at all costs - incredibly dirty and smelly.

Hello, dear readers

As you know,my name is Diana and let's start our review :)

Well, this time I have traveled with my mom, father and small brother (5 years old).
We had already been in Vienna many times but as we used to explore only the city center and shops I asked to find another hotel.

So, location:
Hotel Cristall is about 30 minutes by foot from the city center but you can use the underground.
If you want to use an underground, you'll need to go at the railway station (which is 5 minutes away) and go downstairs. There you will find automatic machines for tickets which are easy to use.
Train which has "Reumannplatz" on it is your train. It takes 3 stations to get to the Stephanplatz

Also, hotel is located in a huge park Prater. Here is lunapark and giant wheel (must to visit).
Park(including wheel) opens at 10 AM (but usually at about 10:30) and closes at 23 PM (or even later).
Ticket for giant wheel costs 9 euro per person.
Tickets for another attractions cost 3-12 euro.

Food:
Price includes breakfast which is really okay. Bacon, omelet, bread some fruit and etc.
The cafe is really tiny but shiny!)

Cleanliness:
Damn, babe! They just forget about this.

What disappointed:
-there was no conditioner
- bed for 2 persons is too small
- if your room has view in the street, it will be very noisy

In general,I'd say that this hotel is okay, especially if you come to Vienna only on a few days and if you walk more than stay in!

Hope,my review was helpful!
Thanks for reading,

Have fun!
