“Okay hotel at a good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

The staff were friendly, the rooms were okay. We stayed at the wing down the hallway. The second floor was a smoking floor and the smell could not be contained. I could smell it from the bottom floor and it made me want to puke. We were just one level above the smoking floor and I would usually rather take the stairs than wait for an elevator if I could, but the stench of smoke was just too foul. They offer free wifi in the rooms, but the connection is so spotty, I could not do anything with it. That is why at night, everyone sitting at the lobby.
Great location to Mariahilferstrasse. Airport bus to VIE right at Westbahnhof next door, which is very convenient.

Dear Sir or Madame,

thank you very much for taking the time to comment your stay at the Mercure Wien Westbahnhof.

We are glad to read that you were happy with our employees.

Unfortunately we had equally to notice that you felt very disturbed due to our smoking floor. We have in total 252 rooms in the hotel and only 10 of these rooms are smoking rooms. Which is a very small number for our size, however it sounds like that during your stay we had a very strong smoker in one of the rooms because normally assure you that should not smell into the corridor.

We would be very glad to be able to welcome you back and please let me than know that we can arrange everything for you.

With best regards

Christina Bonertz

Stayed their couple of time on business trip. Lots of guest due to Westbhanhof & Mariahilfer shopping district. However, it's not a star hotel as advertised. Rooms are least furnished (stayed in different parts both times) and basic amenities suck. No wi-fi! Not money's worth..

it is an average tourist class hotel very close to the hauptbahnhof.
they accept early check-in for a fee, I paid 30 Euro extra for check in at 11:00 AM.
regarding to the internet connection: they do not charge money for it but
the connection work on a very low speed which is a sad joke. my average
speed in the room was about 200 kbps so I could just to check my e-mail
and for the rest to find an internet cafe (there is no one close to the hotel)

my room size was medium-small and it was a "classic room" which is like
the standard room but with air condition. I asked for a double bed but got
the twin, being told that most of the room are like that.
I would not recommend this hotel for a long stay in wien, but for a short
stopover it is o.k.

Room Tip: the standard rooms do not have air condition ! there is 4 levels of hospitality in this hotel.

We stayed here for one night as the following day we were traveling to Budapest. The hotel room itself I found to be dirty. This is really average and would recommend that you look elsewhere. Free WiFi is not included and you must pay. I have stayed at other Mercure Hotels and this was truly disappointing and does not reflect the standard of the other hotels in the chain.

Room Tip: There other other hotels near by, one just outside the train station called Motel One or something w...

althoug not very close from te center (but you can go by feet, and you should, cause wien is one of the most beautiful cities i've ever seen) there's a huge train station just around the corner.
The room was nice, so was the staff. And the price is fair
