A very nice hotel!
We enjoyed 6 full days in Vienna staying at the Donauwalzer. The hotel offers a pleasurable mix of traditional and modern decor and is ideally situated for easy access to the city centre with good public transport (tram and train). The included breakfast is both varied and plentiful. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Although located on a main road the double glazing was very effective giving us a good night sleep. The free security safe was appreciated and access very easy. Our room was on the 3rd floor.

I have already stayed here for several times. The rooms are quite bis and renovated with good bathrooms. The rooms facing to the main street are rather noisy when windows are opened, so choose a room to the gardenside in summer, so you can open the windows during the night. Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is good and you really get value for money. If you walk home at night late, it feels better to have a man by your side, so rather choose a taxi. Only some minutes to walk to the subway is fine during the day.

It was a decision that we took in a hurry, we were in our way to Prague,we checked on the internet for a hotel close to were we were , in the center of Wien, and we did very good that we stayed! Very clean, nice, friendly stuff, good breakfast, except the fact that we lost our car because we didn t read the signs :))we parked it in the bus station, but that s not the hotel guilt :)) it was ours, it was funny, we went in the morning with our luggages and there was no car :))))). Expensive hotel because we didn t pay attention to the signs : P : p: P, but we are not sorry , we enjoyed it very much!!!

This hotel is wonderful for your sightseeing trip in Vienna - the personal is so friendly, and you feel very welcomed. We booked the "Flohwalzer" the cheapest room, and it was very nice. If you boom directly via the hotels webpage, it is cheaper! ;) the breakfast is also tasty. If you are sensitive to noise, reserve a silent room. We would come back to that hotel.

I was attending a conference at the University of Vienna (Wien), and this hotel was recommended by the conference organisers. It is located 3 tram stops from the University - no 44 - outside the front door. No 43 is a block away and gets you to the university very quickly. They also lead to Schottentor terminal which is on the Schottenring and close to the edge of the centre. All walkable of course, but the tram makes it easier. Alsser Strasse Metro is just a block away too, and makes it easy to get to and from the airport by train. Booking was no problem - very efficient and friendly. I stayed for 4 nights prior to the conference on holiday and then went to another city for 2 nights and came back for 6 nights of the conference. They kindly looked after my suitcase during the 2 nights, so I only had to carry a backpack.

I had the same room for both stints. It was spacious with a single bed, desk, chair, phone, tv, fan, minibar fridge, wardrobe, bathroom with toilet, basin and shower, hairdryer. Windows could be opened, with nice curtains that blocked the light. The room was facing on to the courtyard so was relatively quiet, except for when guests were smoking out there late into the night, but they were not too rowdy. The fan was essential as it was very hot in Vienna in late July. Breakfast was a very generous smorgasbord of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juices, breads, cakes, meats, cheese, hot fare, coffee, tea and more in a pleasant eating area on the ground floor. The reception area is also a bar so is great for ice and drinks in the hot weather. The staff speak English, and tolerant of my smattering of german. Wifi internet available and is reliable. As a single female i found the hotel very friendly and safe, and the local area safe. The local area is a mix of residential, bars, McDonalds etc and there is a busy road, bike path nearby with people out and about at all hours. Recommend this hotel if you are working at the university - other pensions closer (where other conference delegates stayed) but this hotel is of a higher class and good value.

Room Tip: Room 115 - single bed- is on the first floor facing onto courtyard. Recently renovated. Relatively q...

I visited this hotel in December 2012 as part of a short break. The only minor inconvenience in the whole stay was the lights not working in the room when we arrived. I think it was just a small over sight and they were sorted out in minutes! Our room was a cheap standard room located right at the back of the hotel near the stairs. We weren't expecting much, so when the lights came on we were pleasantly surprised by the large and well decorated room with a large Walnut wardrobe and Rococo style furnishings!

The lady who seemed to be the most senior member of desk staff was very helpful, polite and gave us a lot of good advice. The other staff were also very helpful and polite. The décor in the hotel is very fresh, there are a lot of modern flourishes over a traditional building. The location is very good, being near an underground and a short walk from Rathaus and Rathauspark.

The breakfast is probably the best thing about staying at the Donauwalzer. It really is a huge selection of really good quality food and many Austrian pastries.

It is hard to fault the Donnauwalzer, the only let down was the nearby brothel. However there are many of these outside the centre of Vienna. However it really wasn't a problem and looked like any other bar except for the red light!
